In order to determine the optimal break point sets (OBPSs) for protection coordination in multi-loop network, four indices are introduced as the judgment criterion of OBPSs, the math model looking for OBPSs is developed. Then, based on the principle of bacterial colony chemotaxis algorithm, a new method of determining OBPSs is presented. Comparing with the existing method, the proposed method can find the optimal minimum break point set. An example analysis proves that this method is valid and applicable. © 2012 State Grid Electric Power Research Institute Press.

A scenario probability based multi-objective optimal low-carbon economic dispatching model for power grid integrated with wind farms is proposed. Considering the prediction uncertainty of such input variables as load demand, output of wind farms and carbon transaction price, a method to simulate the scenario probability to cope with uncertainty problem is put forward to establish multi-objective optimal model that is more in conformity with the practice. The economic dispatching objective considering wind power generation cost and the low-carbon dispatching objective considering carbon transaction are included in the multi-objective model. To facilitate the analysis on the impact of carbon transaction on dispatching results, such indices as the average power purchase cost, the price subsidy of wind power and the average share of unit output are defined. The established multi-objective optimal model is solved by improved multi-objective particle swarm optimization algorithm. Based on the established multi-objective model, the simulation of the optimal dispatching by the determined method, the stochastic method and the scenario probability method are performed respectively, and simulation results are compared, and three dispatching schemes with different objective functions are analyzed. Besides, under the condition that the carbon transaction is taken into account or not considered the evaluation indices are calculated respectively during the simulation. Simulation results show that the established multi-objective optimal model is effective and feasible, and the utilized algorithm is rational.

This paper deals with application requirements of seamless communication between smart substation and control center, especially model harmonization between IEC 61850 and 61970. The necessity and feasibility of IEC 61850 proxy server acting as a communication gateway in substation is introduced. It also describes software design of functions and architecture for proxy server. The proxy server makes full consideration of the application technologies of IEC 61850 and 61970, such as modeling methods, configuration tool, real-time database, IEC 61850 abstract communication service interface (ACSI) client, services mapping, access security, maintenance and hardware. The proxy server features perfect functions, simple configuration and easy maintenance, and will become an important front-end communication device in future construction of smart substation, providing technological support for seamless connections between heterogeneous systems in smart grid. ©2010 State Grid Electric Power Research Institute Press.

In this paper, a brief introduction is given to the hierarchical distributed network architecture of digital substation based on IEC 61850 protocols. And the differences of AC sampling systems for transformer protection are pointed out, which exist in the equipments compositions, information transmission modes and transmission medium between the traditional substation and digital substation. By taking the special operation mode when primary main equipments are in maintenance into comprehensive consideration, the reason for blocking problem happened in transformer protections is analyzed detailedly in digital substation. Finally, a modification scheme is proposed to solve this phenomenon for the transformer protections in digital substation, and the solutions have been applied in Mingfu digital substation project in Hebei power grid. According to the actual operation results, the validity and feasibility of the scheme have been proved.
