Hallym University is a private university located in Chuncheon, Gangwon, Republic of Korea. Hallym University was established in 1982. In 1995 it was designated by the Ministry of Education as one of a handful of universities entitled to receive the financial support of the Ministry for their specialization programs. After that, it continued to be so designated consecutively for five years. In addition, it has acquired the status of "distinguished university," the title granted by the Ministry of Education, three years in a row, and has also been selected for funding by the Brain Korea 21 Project. The functionalized calixarene derivatives exhibit remarkable properties towards organic and bioorganic molecules. However, the ability of calixarene derivatives to form stable complexes with biomolecules allows them to be applied for the development of biosensors and in the field of biology, biotechnology, and drug discovery. The applications of the functionalized calixarenes are summarized in this review, and an outlook for the future developments is discussed. A brief survey (of the last 10 years) on their biological application in various fields is also considered (199 references).


An image processing module includes an input unit, a weight operator, and a synthesizer. The input unit is configured to receive a plurality of input signals of a plurality of channels. The weight operator is configured to calculate at least one weight to be applied to each channel based on at least one converted signal. The at least one converted signal is acquired by converting at least one input signal among the plurality of input signals of each channel, or by converting a synthesized input signal of the plurality of input signals of each channel. The synthesizer is configured to synthesize the plurality of input signals of the plurality of channels using the weight.


Disclosed herein is a beamformer that performs beamforming, including a weight computation processor configured to compute a covariance of a conversion signal which is obtainable by converting an input signal using at least one conversion function, approximate the computed covariance to a Toeplitz matrix form, and compute a conversion signal weight that is a weight for the conversion signal based on the approximation result, and a synthesizer configured to generate an output signal using the conversion signal weight computed by the weight computation processor.


A beamforming module includes a conversion unit configured to convert an input signal to generate a converted signal using at least one conversion function, a weight calculator configured to calculate a converted signal weight as a weight for the converted signal, and a synthesizer configured to generate a result signal using the converted signal and the converted signal weight.

Provided is a pharmaceutical composition for treating corneal endothelium wounds, the composition including angiogenin as an effective ingredient. The present invention relates to a new topical therapeutic use of angiogenin for treatment of corneal endothelium wounds, wherein the angiogenin that is generally known to be involved in angiogenesis activates a PI3K/Akt/eNOS pathway thereof in ocular corneal endothelium to increase migration and proliferation of corneal endothelial cells that are not capable of self-proliferation and to promote prevention and treatment of corneal endothelial cell wounds.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the leading causes of cancer-related death in the elderly. However, elderly patients with CRC tend to be under-presented in clinical trials and undertreated in clinical practice. Advanced age alone should not be the only criteria to preclude effective therapy in elderly patients with CRC. The best guide about optimal cancer treatment can be provided by comprehensive geriatric assessment. Elderly patients with stage III colon cancer can enjoy the same benefit from adjuvant chemotherapy with 5-fluorouracil/leucovorin or capecitabine as younger patients, without a substantial increase in toxicity. With conflicting results of retrospective studies and a lack of data available from randomized studies, combined modality treatment should be used with great caution in elderly patients with locally advanced rectal cancer. Combination chemotherapy can be considered for older patients with metastatic CRC. For elderly patients who are frail or vulnerable, however, monotherapy or a stopand- go strategy may be desirable. The use of targeted therapies in older patients with metastatic CRC appears to be promising in view of their better efficacy and toxicity. Treatment should be individualized based on the nature of the disease, the physiologic or functional status, and the patient's preference. © 2015 Baishideng Publishing Group Inc. The present invention provides an antibody or antigen binding fragment thereof, that binds to TM4SF5, and uses thereof. The antibody of this invention inhibits the growth, metastasis and invasion of cancer cells expressing TM4SF5 by binding to a tumor-specific antigen, TM4SF5, with high affinity, and therefore can be used to diagnose, prevent or treat various cancers expressing TM4SF5.
