With the extensive application of cloud computing and data centres, as well as the constantly emerging services, the big data with the burst characteristic has brought huge challenges to optical networks. Consequently, the software defined optical network (SDON) that combines optical networks with software defined network (SDN), has attracted much attention. In this paper, an OpenFlow-enabled optical node employed in optical cross-connect (OXC) and reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer (ROADM), is proposed. An open source OpenFlow controller is extended on routing strategies. In addition, the experiment platform based on OpenFlow protocol for software defined optical network, is designed. The feasibility and availability of the OpenFlow-enabled optical nodes and the extended OpenFlow controller are validated by the connectivity test, protection switching and load balancing experiments in this test platform. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd. With the explosive growth of network services, the reasonable traffic scheduling and efficient configuration of network resources have an important significance to increase the efficiency of the network. In this paper, an adaptive traffic scheduling policy based on the priority and time window is proposed and the performance of this algorithm is evaluated in terms of scheduling ratio. The routing and spectrum allocation are achieved by using the Floyd shortest path algorithm and establishing a node spectrum resource allocation model based on greedy algorithm, which is proposed by us. The fairness index is introduced to improve the capability of spectrum configuration. The results show that the designed traffic scheduling strategy can be applied to networks with multicast and broadcast functionalities, and makes them get real-time and efficient response. The scheme of node spectrum configuration improves the frequency resource utilization and gives play to the efficiency of the network. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd. Source

Registration of multi-sensor images is an important part of image fusion. Because of the gray difference existing in multi-sensor image pairs, the registration problem of multi-sensor image is much difficult than that of single-sensor images. The existing STAR algorithm is appropriate for affine multi-sensor images, but is only applicable to images containing plenty of line segment features, because it is based on the extraction of line segments. Considering that the contour feature is more common than line segment feature in images, an enhanced STAR algorithm, called ESTAR, is presented according to contour extraction to overcome the limitation of the STAR algorithm in this paper. © 2015 IEEE. We develop an optical transceiver module with multi-rates and regeneration functionality, which can operate at any rate from 100Mb/s to 10.709Gb/s. Its input signal VIN-p-p, differential output VD-p-p and recovered differential clock VC-p-p are 11∼1000mV, 480∼660mV and 400∼580mV, respectively. © 2015 IEEE. Source

The message-decryption process of subtracting chaotic synchronization carrier from receiving signal is explained by modeling and numerically solving the rate equations for semiconductor lasers. An experimental system of wavelength division multiplexing passive optical network (WDM-PON) based on chaotic-light secure communications is first built up. The bidirectional transmissions of downstream and upstream data are experimentally realized with only two lasers and a single wavelength channel in a WDM fiber-optic link. When the data rate is 1.25 Gb/s, the secure transmission distance can be up to 11 km with SSMF of G.652. After sampling and decision, the BER of the recovered messages is calculated to be approximately 1×10-4. © COPYRIGHT 2015 SPIE. Source
