In this paper, a model of wind power generation cost per Kilowatt-hour is proposed. Firstly, we analyzed the factors which influence the wind power generation cost, and then highlighted the interest cost and tax cost which had been neglected in previous research works. Finally, we gave the calculation formula of the wind power generation cost per Kilowatt-hour. A case had also been studied to to verify the effectiveness of the model. We find that thewind power generation costs per kilowatt-hour is still much higher than regular energy generation costs if we ignore the government allowance. Although there's limited room for further declines in the cost of wind power generation, we still gave some some valuable advice in the end. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

With the explosive growth of network services, the reasonable traffic scheduling and efficient configuration of network resources have an important significance to increase the efficiency of the network. In this paper, an adaptive traffic scheduling policy based on the priority and time window is proposed and the performance of this algorithm is evaluated in terms of scheduling ratio. The routing and spectrum allocation are achieved by using the Floyd shortest path algorithm and establishing a node spectrum resource allocation model based on greedy algorithm, which is proposed by us. The fairness index is introduced to improve the capability of spectrum configuration. The results show that the designed traffic scheduling strategy can be applied to networks with multicast and broadcast functionalities, and makes them get real-time and efficient response. The scheme of node spectrum configuration improves the frequency resource utilization and gives play to the efficiency of the network. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

With the extensive application of cloud computing and data centres, as well as the constantly emerging services, the big data with the burst characteristic has brought huge challenges to optical networks. Consequently, the software defined optical network (SDON) that combines optical networks with software defined network (SDN), has attracted much attention. In this paper, an OpenFlow-enabled optical node employed in optical cross-connect (OXC) and reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer (ROADM), is proposed. An open source OpenFlow controller is extended on routing strategies. In addition, the experiment platform based on OpenFlow protocol for software defined optical network, is designed. The feasibility and availability of the OpenFlow-enabled optical nodes and the extended OpenFlow controller are validated by the connectivity test, protection switching and load balancing experiments in this test platform. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The message-decryption process of subtracting chaotic synchronization carrier from receiving signal is explained by modeling and numerically solving the rate equations for semiconductor lasers. An experimental system of wavelength division multiplexing passive optical network (WDM-PON) based on chaotic-light secure communications is first built up. The bidirectional transmissions of downstream and upstream data are experimentally realized with only two lasers and a single wavelength channel in a WDM fiber-optic link. When the data rate is 1.25 Gb/s, the secure transmission distance can be up to 11 km with SSMF of G.652. After sampling and decision, the BER of the recovered messages is calculated to be approximately 1×10-4. © COPYRIGHT 2015 SPIE.

In the article, a combination by two all-optical XOR/XNOR logic gates using photonic crystal for binary-phase-shift-keyed (BPSK) signals and a photonic crystal all-optical AND logic gate for intensity modulation signals is proposed. The novel AND and NOR logic gates for BPSK signals are realized. Finite-difference-time-domain (FDTD) scheme is applied. The numerical results indicate that contrast specific value of logic 1 and logic 0 logic-levels is more than 21dB for AND operation and 19dB for NOR operation over the C-band (1530-1565nm). © 2014 IEEE.

A broadband- and photonic-integrated convenient chaotic-light transmitter with both optical feedback and mutual optical-coupling techniques are proposed. Both numerical simulation and experimental results show that the bandwidth of the presented transmitter is much higher than that of the traditional transmitter with only the optical feedback or the mutual optical-coupling; and the influence of optical feedback strength and mutual optical coupling strength on the bandwidth is also investigated numerically. © 2014 Chinese Optics Letters.

In this paper, a real-time online fault monitoring technique for chaos-based passive optical networks (PONs) is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The fault monitoring is performed by the chaotic communication signal. The proof-of-concept experiments are demonstrated for two PON structures, i.e., wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) PON and Ethernet PON (EPON), respectively. For WDM PON, two monitoring approaches are investigated, one deploying a chaotic optical time domain reflectometry (OTDR) for each transmitter, and the other using only one tunable chaotic OTDR. The experimental results show that the faults at beyond 20 km from the OLT can be detected and located. The spatial resolution of the tunable chaotic OTDR is an order of magnitude of centimeter. Meanwhile, the monitoring process can operate in parallel with the chaotic optical secure communications. The proposed technique has benefits of real-time, online, precise fault location, and simple realization, which will significantly reduce the cost of operation, administration and maintenance (OAM) of PON. ©2014 Elsevier B.V. A novel WDM-RoF system scheme for the next generation 5G mobile communication is proposed in this paper. This system can relieve the chromatic dispersion effects and attenuation, which consists of the central station (CS), the sub-central station (S-CS) and the base station (BS). This structure will integrate seamlessly with the existing WDM-PON, which can reduce the construction cost of the RoF system. The establishment of S-CS can achieve centralized management of BS operations, improve the reasonable scheduling and allocation of resources, simplify the complexity and lessen the power consumption of the base station. The simulation results based on Optisystem verify the feasibility of the WDM-RoF system with 20GHz subcarrier. © 2016 IEEE.

We develop an optical transceiver module with multi-rates and regeneration functionality, which can operate at any rate from 100Mb/s to 10.709Gb/s. Its input signal VIN-p-p, differential output VD-p-p and recovered differential clock VC-p-p are 11∼1000mV, 480∼660mV and 400∼580mV, respectively. © 2015 IEEE.

Registration of multi-sensor images is an important part of image fusion. Because of the gray difference existing in multi-sensor image pairs, the registration problem of multi-sensor image is much difficult than that of single-sensor images. The existing STAR algorithm is appropriate for affine multi-sensor images, but is only applicable to images containing plenty of line segment features, because it is based on the extraction of line segments. Considering that the contour feature is more common than line segment feature in images, an enhanced STAR algorithm, called ESTAR, is presented according to contour extraction to overcome the limitation of the STAR algorithm in this paper. © 2015 IEEE.
