Synchronous generator directly connected to the grid can be employed in the variable speed wind turbine by introducing electromagnetic coupler in its power train. That improves the transient overload, fault ride-through and voltage support capability of the wind turbine and the compatibility between wind turbine and power system effectively. The inverter fed electromagnetic coupler transmits the power from gearbox to generator flexibly, and protects the gearbox from impact of fault torque occurred in the generator. In order to investigate the effectiveness of the operation control strategies for such wind turbine and measure the efficiency of power transmission of the electromagnetic coupler experimentally, a 30kW test platform for simulating the variable speed wind turbine based on electromagnetic coupler was designed and implemented. Control strategies including start and stop, synchronizing and closing to the grid, load adjustment were verified by experiment, and transmission efficiencies of the electromagnetic coupler running at different wind conditions were measured. © 2013 Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering. The mathematical model of grid-side converter with LCL filter is built and analyzed to improve its performance in doubly-fed wind power system under unbalanced grid voltage conditions. An unbalanced grid current instruction algorithm based on LCL filter and a compound current control strategy based on the parallel PI controller and repetitive controller in synchronous rotating dq frame are proposed, which effectively reduces the low-order harmonics of grid current, achieves the positive/negative current tracking without steady-state error and enhances the DC voltage stability. The scheme of active damping by filter capacitor current is applied to suppress the transient resonance of LCL filter. Experiment with a 5 kW prototype verifies the correctness of the proposed control strategy. Source

The development of the wind power generation is very fast, how to improve the efficiency of the generation is the research focus. The study analyses the control strategy of the wind power generation, optimizes the power output energy conversion factor of the optimal tip-speed ratio and the optimal tip-speed ratio using the clonal selection on quantum genetic algorithm, adjusts the control strategy and brings the optimal pitch control strategy. The comparison is the optimizational control strategy and the conventional control strategy with the simulation. The power output of the optimizational control strategy is more stable, the ability of the capturing wind is strong, cutting down the wave of the generation export power. © 2013 Asian Network for Scientific Information.
