In the present paper we selected some typical samples from Luodian jade to perform FTIR test in order to study the vibration attribution of crystals structure. The results confirm that the main mineral composition of Luodian jade is tremolite. Not only has it been not reported in other IR study on natural nephrite that the absorption bands at wave numbers between 840 and 860 cm-1 caused by residual diopside exist in Luodian jade with the process of tremolite rock transformed to nephrite, but is also the biggest difference between the Luodian jade and other nephrite. The results reveal important mineralogy evidence of metamorphism of Luodian jade, and on the other hand, it also shows that there is a certain difference in the process of nephrite change between Luodian jade and other natural nephrite. Moreover, it further suggests that Luodian jade is a kind of new genetic nephrite ore. Source

Petrochemical characteristics of Luodian Jade from Guizhou Province were studied by using XRF, ICP-MS and conventional chemical analysis. Tremolite in Luodian Jade experienced two stages of relative saturated and unsaturated in Mg. Tremolite formed in Mg saturated phase is mainly white jade series, close to the standard crystal chemical composition with general formula of A 0.01 B 2.00 C 5.34 T 8 O 22 (OH) 2, whereas, relatively green jade series may appear in Mg unsaturated stage and is rich in Ca and poor in Mg with general formula of A 0.01B 2.35C 4.13T 8O 22(OH) 2. Analysis of trace elements shows that the formation of white jade series and green jade series is affected by different trace element associations, especially, Cr-V, Co-Ni and Mn-Sr. It is indicated that Cr and V ions in chemical composition are responsible for the green color of Luodian Jade. Moreover, REE analysis of Luodian Jade revealed abnormal characteristics in δCe and δEu, and chondritenormalized REE distribution pattern is similar to that of the surrounding rock of diabase and limestone. On the basis of petro-chemical characteristic study of Luodian Jade, it is considered that Luodian Jade is a new type of nephrite jade formed in a long term contact metasomatism between the limestone and gas-liquid fluid brought by diabase intrusion. In the process of metallogenic metasomatism, the limestone provides Ca and Mg, and the gas-liquid fluid s mainly provides Si for Luodian Jade. Source
