By the mercury injection test and the constant head seepage test, seepage properties of the fine particles artificial soil and natural soil are tested. The research shows that the two samples tested meet the conditions necessary for the occurrence of the boundary slippage of micropore seepage. Under the same hydraulic gradient, as the permeability coefficient of the artificial soil sample with the pore fluid concentration increases, the largest scale can reach 300 times; "differentiation" appears when the permeability coefficient of the samples with different pore fluid concentrations changes with hydraulic gradient. Samples with a low pore fluid concentration will cause the microporous filtration "boundary slippage" phenomenon. When the hydraulic gradient is small, the ki-I curve decreases with the increasing hydraulic gradient; when the hydraulic gradient is large, the ki-I curve changes weakened; in contrast, soil samples with a higher pore fluid concentration do not cause the "boundary slippage" phenomenon, and the permeability coefficient increases along with the hydraulic gradient. © 2016 Taylor & Francis Group, London.

Variable precision rough set model, as an important probabilistic approach to rough set theory, can deal with many practical problems which involve noise data and cannot be effectively handled by Pawlak's rough set model. Generally, rough set theory based knowledge reduction includes attribute reduction and attribute value reduction. Attribute reduction in variable precision rough set model has been attracted many researchers' attentions. However, attribute value reduction in variable precision rough set model was rarely discussed. In this paper, an approach to attribute value reduction in variable precision rough set model is presented, with which the redundant information in the given decision table can be effectively removed and the properties of the acquired rules, namely deterministic or probabilistic, can be preserved well. © 2011 IEEE.

A new decentralized control method, named Regular Tetrahedron Formation (RTF) strategy, is presented for a swarm of simple robots operating in three dimensional space. This strategy is based on virtual spring mechanism and basically, allows four neighboring robots to autonomously form a Regular Tetrahedron (RT) regardless of their initial positions. RTF strategy is made scalable and applied for various sizes of swarms through a dynamic neighbor selection procedure. Thus, each robot's behavior in each time step is only dependent on the local position information of three dynamically selected neighbors. In addition, an obstacle avoidance model suitable for swarm maneuvering is also introduced. Algorithm is studied with computational experiments which demonstrated that it is effective and practical. © 2011 IEEE.

Because the attributes of the network data become more and more complex, the useful clustering attributes are increasing greatly. The traditional network data clustering algorithm is sensitive with the initial center of the network data clustering which cause the operation efficiency of the algorithm is quite low. This paper proposes a kind of network data fast clustering algorithm based on fuzzy processing model. The algorithm solves the issue of fixed center in the traditional network data clustering algorithm. The experiment illustrates the algorithm has better clustering accuracy and the convergence speed is quickly. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

A new control method based on least squares support vector machine (LSSVM) and model predictive control (MPC) is proposed for the control of fermenter temperature. Existing PID control doesn't consider the model of controlled object, so it tends to bring steady-state error. The proposed method utilizes LSSVM to obtain fermenter temperature's model and then uses it to implement MPC. The simulation results show that our method has better control performance than traditional PID control. © (2012) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

A hybrid adaptive genetic algorithm is proposed for solving constrained optimization problems. The algorithm combines adaptive penalty method and smoothing technique in order to get no parameter tuning and easily escaping from the local optimal solutions. Meanwhile, local line search technique is introduced and a new crossover operator is designed for getting much faster convergence. The performance of the algorithm is tested on thirteen benchmark functions and the results indicate that the proposed algorithm is robust and effective. © (2012) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

The rule set which is acquired based on rough set theory can be classified into two categories: deterministic rules and probabilistic rules. Traditional attribute reduction definitions in variable precision rough set model cannot guarantee the rule properties, namely deterministic or probabilistic. In this paper, a new criterion for attribute reduction is put forward based on variable precision rough set model. The rule properties can be preserved during the process of attribute reduction. The relationships between the new reduct definition and available definitions, including Ziarko's reduct definition and β lower distribution reduct definition are also discussed.

Recently Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm gained popularity and employed in many engineering applications because of its simplicity and efficiency. The performance of the PSO algorithm can further be improved by using hybrid techniques. There are various hybrid PSO algorithms published in the literature where researchers combine the benefits of PSO with other heuristics algorithms. In this paper, we propose a cooperative line search particle swarm optimization (CLS-PSO) algorithm by integrating local line search technique and basic PSO (B-PSO). The performance of the proposed hybrid algorithm, examined through four typically nonlinear optimization problems, is reported. Our experimental results show that CLS-PSO outperforms basic PSO. ©2010 IEEE.

Using mixing casting method, in-situ composite technology, rapid solidification process and powder metallurgic method etc. can parpare metal matrix nano composites successfully. Comparing with other preparing methods, mixing casting method is with many advantages such as easy to manipulate, low cost, the composites obtained with better properties. CNTs strengthening metal matrix composites are with more dense organization and higher tensile strength, micro hardness, fatigue strength, and abrasive resistance etc. comparing with traditional metal matrix composites. So CNTs strengthening metal matrix composites are widely applied in industrial areas. In this article, the prepare methods of CNTs strengthening metal matrix composites are summed up, the micro organization and mechanical properties of CNTs strengthening metal matrix composites are described and whose future work is prospected. © (2011) Trans Tech Publications.
