Through a series of experimental researches on heat treatment process for GS24Mn6V steel castings, the traditional heat treatment process was improved greatly: removing the annealing or normalizing pretreatment process, improving the quenching and tempering temperature, shortening the quenching and tempering time, and finally determining the optimum heat treatment process: 950℃ × 1 h salt water + 630℃ × 2 h saline cold (control charging quantity about 1.5 t). By improving process, the mechanical properties and microstructure of GS24Mn6V steel casting met the technical requirements, also the production cycle was greatly shortened, production cost was saved, the heat treatment quality of workpieces was improved, and energy-saving effect is very significant. ©, 2014, Zhuzao/Foundry.
