As substations in split operation mode as well as stations without initial geography zone can't be considered and treated in the previous automatic discovery method of power system electrical zones based on electrical distance, an automatic discovery method of power system electrical zones considering stations in split operation mode as well as stations without initial geography zone is proposed. Through dividing the substation in split operation mode into several new stations and rebuilding the topological connections between the several new substations and other stations in power system, the real-time operation status of power grid can be reflected more accurately. According to the average electrical distance and power transmission between stations without initial geography zone and geography zones in power system, stations without initial geography zone are put into the initial geography zones with closest connections, which makes the automatic discovery of power system electrical zones more reliable. A test case is done in Guangdong Power Grid of China. The results show that the proposed method considers the real split operation status of substations accurately, covers all of the stations, and the results of electrical zones agree with that of the experience of operators, so the results are reliable. There are several shortcomings, such as poor succession and low efficiency, when BPA transient calculation program is called by some advanced application systems in EMS through tradition interface. In order to solve these shortcomings, an interface designed for calling BPA transient calculation program quickly and effectively is proposed. Through setting unified BPA transient calculation program interface file interaction standard, the shortcoming of poor succession is solved. According to the features of the advanced application systems in EMS, a method to call the BPA transient calculation program quickly and effectively is designed to call the BPA interface more quickly and effectively. A test case is done in Guangdong Power Grid of China to call the BPA transient calculation program interface using the fine operational rules online automatic discovery system. The results show that the designed interface for calling BPA transient calculation program has good succession and high efficiency, can call the BPA transient calculation program more quickly and effectively. Based on summarizing the features of selecting critical flowgates in actual power grid, an automatic discovery method of power system critical flowgates considering multiple security themes in power grid is proposed. Based on topological structure of power grid and online power flow, the electric partitioning of power grid is performed and different types of critical flowgates are selected according to different security theme: according to the demand on transient security theme the long-distance transmission channel composed by tie line between electric partitionings is chosen as critical flowgate; according to the demand on thermal stability theme, the transmission channel composed of high voltage transmission lines with high transmission capacity, which interact each other obviously, is chosen as critical flowgate; according to the thermal stability at load side the transmission channel composed of low voltage transmission lines with higher transmission capacity, which interact each other obviously, is chosen as critical flowgate. Taking Guangdong power Grid in China as testing example, test results show that the proposed method considers common security themes in power grid accurately and different kinds of critical flowgates can be attained; the obtained critical flowgates not only conform to a posteriori critical flowgate given by experts in the field of power grid operation, and new critical flowgates can be discovered, besides, the discovery results are reasonable and creditable. Affected by multiple solution of least least-squares estimation model and random measurement error, there are instability and dissatisfaction of physical features in equivalent parameters of external network obtained by the estimation method of static equivalent parameters of two-port external network, which relies on measured information of internal network. For this reason, based on its equivalent circuit model and the two-stage scheme to estimate static equivalent parameters of two-port external network, the measurement state variables for boundary nodal voltage and equivalent load current of internal network as well as their measurement equations are increased, at the same time physical constraints of equivalent parameters of external network are increased as well to improve least square estimation model of external network equivalent parameters. The availability of the proposed method is verified by simulation results of modified IEEE 39-bus system. Source
