In order to study the mechanical and deformation characteristic of structure plane in rock mass, under the situation of reinforcing by bolt, the numerical analysis method was adopted. The three dimensional calculation model was founded for simulation the direct shear test of structure plane. The structure plane surface situation and bolt inclination were changed to study their effect to the strength and deformation characteristic of structure plane. The analysis results show that after reinforced by bolt, the shear strength of structure plane is improved, and the equivalent cohesion has the larger degree of improvement, and when the undulating angle of structure plane is 0, it will get its maximum shear strength when bolt angle is 15°, and then with the increase of bolt angle, the shear strength of structure plane reduces gradually, and when the undulating angle of structure plane is 17°, the shear strength of structure plane exist for the bolt angle in the range of 30~50°. In order to study the influence of the tunnel burial depth and excavation method on the second lining support time, the numerical calculation model was established with taking Niucheding tunnel of Guangwu highway as the engineering background. During the calculation, the corresponding second lining support time was obtained through changing the burial depth and excavation method for the tunnel. The calculation results show that the relation between the allowable distance of second lining to tunnel face with the tunnel burial depth can be determined according to the numerical calculation. When the burial depth is smaller, the allowable distance of second lining to tunnel face increases with an increase in the burial depth. When the burial depth reaches a certain magnitude, the distance of second lining to tunnel face will keep constant. The excavation method of tunnel has great influence on the allowable distance of second lining to tunnel face, and little effect on the allowable distance of inverted arch to tunnel face. With increasing the excavation steps, the disturbance of the excavation to the rock mass becomes smaller. It means that the second lining time can be postponed. If the full face excavation method for III degree of surrounding rock mass is chosen as the standard, the allowable distance of second lining to tunnel face needs to be modified according to the different construction methods. The corresponding modifying value is 1.0 for the full face excavation method, and 1.5 for both step excavation method and middle bulkhead excavation method. Source
