In view of the effects of the tide and earthquake on the side slope stability, a finite element analysis model of side slope stability was built according to the hydrogeological conditions of the beach and the design/construction of the seawall road. The effects of the tide and earthquake on the side slope stability were simulated and analyzed to optimize and adjust the design and construction. The results showed the validity of the proposed model, and the practicability of the FEM numerical simulation in the design and construction of the polder projects which can be used as a reference for other similar constructions of the seawalls.

The sucrose (0.045% of cement) is added in cement paste, the consistency of Ca2+ and OH- reduce and the AFt is high solubility produced, thus the AFt exists as gel like product which covers the surface of the clinker particles, the sucrose acts as a retarder. When the dosage of the sucrose is 0.24%, the sucrose poisons the hydration of C2S and C 3S markedly, so the consistency of Ca2+ and OH- reduce sharply and the AFt like needle form a hydration product network and accelerates the setting process, C2S and C3S cannot yield enough C-S-H, the strength development is baffled. It was supposed that there are two dosage threshold values of sucrose on the hydration process, 0.01% is a retardation threshold value accelerating the formation of AFt, while 0.2% is an acceleration threshold value poisoning the hydration of C3S and C2S. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications.

In this paper, 2.36 mm is considered as the primary control sieve which defines coarse and fine aggregate for AC-13; and bulk density tests are used to determine the optimum proportions of coarse aggregate in the mixes; 9 kinds of gradation including different shapes of fine aggregate and different percent passing of control sieve are selected and tested through Wheel Tracking Test and Freeze-Thaw Split Test. The results show that the percent passing of 2.36 mm has significant impact on the high-temperature rutting resistance and water stability of the asphalt mixture. Based on laboratory test results, all aspects of road performance requirements are integrated, and the grading envelope of AC-13 for mix design adapted to the characteristics of hot climates district are resulted to improve the rutting resistance capability in hot climates district.

Pipe roof advance support technology in the shallow tunnels construction has been used widely in preventing tunnel collapse, controlling surrounding rock deformation. Currently, the computational theory about pipe roof supporting effect is still not perfect; design procedures also did not make clear regulation. Based on Dawangding tunnel engineering, citing elastic foundation model, the stress characteristics in different construction stages of pipe roofs and surrounding rock were analyzed, and the effect which pipe roofs limit rock deformation was researched by using numerical simulation, through displacement and stress curves, research shows that pipe roof supporting function mainly reflects in controlling rock initial deformation, adjusting stress distribution of surrounding rock, uniforming vaults settlement The both sides of the arch feet deformation in tunnel construction should be closely monitored to prevent local damage. © 2011 IEEE.
