Considering sustainable and economic production environments material and energy efficient value added production processes are growing in importance. Beside once-only actions to increase the efficiency, e. g. in the field of product development one of the main success factors lies in the organizational fixing of the topic in the day to day business. This paper describes necessary requirements for a successful implementation. © Carl Hanser Verlag, München.

Resource efficiency is strongly connected with sustainability. Sustainability in companies means a long term protection of the ecological value under consideration of social requirements. The goal of sustainable companies is to gain profit in a long term perspective by focusing on their ecological and social responsibility. A precondition is a general change in the way of thinking. The management has to agree to a resource efficient use of production resources. This article describes an approach supporting this goal by specifying a way how to introduce the topic on the shop-floor level. © Carl Hanser Verlag, München.

A high share of our economic strength is creat- ed in factories. At the same time re-planning in factories often leads to a restriction of their per- formance. A development project now focuses on an approach in order to solve this problem: A structured way to achieve an optimised factory is presented in a business app. This is backed with applications so that corporate users can achieve an improvement by themselves. © 2015, G I T O Verlag.
