Granulomatous inflammation is an inflammation which occurs in many diseases with unknown etiology. It is characterised by mass formation of granulocytes in area of infection. Anti-neutrophilic cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA) is the marker for granulomatous inflammation.1 Clinical studies hints towards the localisation of this GI in respiratory tract leading to autoantibody directed bone and cartilage loss. © 2015, Indian Academy of Neurosciences. Environmental concerns and sustainable development is one of the important key pillars of Corporate Social Responsibility. The study was undertaken to comparatively analyze the awareness and commitment of knitwear units towards environmental practices among inward oriented and outward oriented units of Ludhiana. Eighty industrial knitwear units belonging to Knitwear Apparel cluster of Ludhiana (Punjab) were surveyed. Random sampling method (Lottery method) was used for the selection of 80 units from 4 major blocks in Ludhiana. Interview Questionnaire schedule was used to collect the data regarding their CSR practices. The results revealed that aldiough there has been much progress in the theoretical understanding of environmental CSR in recent years, much remains to be done on its practical implementation. Most of the outward oriented knitwear units followed environmental friendly practices and also had drawn up an environmental friendly policy. Though some units had proper waste disposable methods as well as pollution reduction arrangements but no one was involved in measurement of greenhouse gases, water and wastes. All outward oriented units were more aggressively involved in one or other cleaner production arrangements in comparison to inward oriented units.

Banana is one of the rhizomatous plants and currently grown in 129 countries around the world. It is the fourth most important global food crop. Different parts of banana trees serve different needs, including fruits as food sources, leaves as food wrapping, and stems for fiber and paper pulp. Historically, banana stems had been used as a source of fiber with the earliest evidence around the 13th century. But its popularity was faded after other convenient fibers such as cotton and silk were made available. As fiber industry has been developing to increase production efficiency, new fibers were then developed to effectively respond the consumers' need, including the production of man-made fibers using petroleum to optimize the fiber properties. The chemical use inevitably causes contamination in every environmental media - water, soil and air, which directly affects human well-being and environment.

Minor millets are important food crops of a large group of people in rural, tribal and hilly areas in India. Nine hybrid varieties of minor millets seeds viz., Ragi ((Eleusine coracana variety FM & HR), Kodo (Paspalum scrobiculactum variety 41,48 & 439), kutki (Panicum sumatrense variety 8 & LMCO-2), Sanwa (Echinochloa frumentacea variety VL-29 & VL-172) have been studied for their fatty acid composition by gas chromatography. The Kodo-48 has highest (86.5%) total saturated fatty acid content whereas variety kutki-8 has 79.1% total unsaturated fatty acid content with better storage quality. The Sanwa BMVL-29 has highest content (46.9%) of linoleic acid (PUFA).

In India, out of 342 districts surveyed, 286 have been identified as endemic to iodine deficiency (ID). Research studies conducted in school age children (SAC), Adolescent girls, Pregnant Mothers (PMs) and Neonates have documented poor iodine nutritional status. As observed by total goiter rate of more than 5% and median urinary iodine concentration level of <100 μg/l in SAC and <150 μg/l in PMs as prescribed cutoff of World Health Organization. And higher thyroid stimulating hormone levels among neonates. ID leads to compromised mental development and hence which remain hidden and not visible to family, program managers and administrator. The present review describes the current status of ID in different parts of the country. With a view to strongly recommend the implementation of Neonatal screening program for ID so that the optimal mental development of children can be achieved.

Herbal drugs are integrated part of both modern and traditional systems of medicine and are frequently found to be adulterated with other drugs of same morphological features, thereby requires scientific methods for their authentication and standardization. Various methods like chemo-profiling using chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques are used for the purpose but have their limitations because of the variations in the chemistry of the metabolites due to the age of the plants and their varied geographical distribution. DNA-based techniques have been widely used as a method of authentication for such types of herbal drugs. In the present study, using a DNA based technique known as PCR-RFLP, an attempt has been made to authenticate one such herbal drug Boerhavia diffusa which gets adulterated with Trianthema portulacastrum and Trianthema monogyna. The PCR amplified product of ribosomal ITS gene when subjected to restriction digestion with five different restriction enzymes viz. MspI, HinfI, MboI, EcoRI and EcoRV showed varied banding patterns for Boerhavia diffusa and adulterated plants. Of the five enzymes MspI, HinfI and MboI could be used for authentication of B. diffusa as they gave unique patterns for this plant and were different from that of adulterants. Rest of the enzymes either could not digest the ITS product or was not showing sufficient polymorphism to assign it to a particular genotype. Our study has established ITS-RFLP based markers for the authentication of B. diffusa, T. portulacastrum and T. monogyna with enzymes MspI, HinfI and MboI.

Enterprise Social Responsibility (ESR) is not a fad or a passing trend, it is a business imperative that many Indian companies had begun to think about or are engaging with in one way or another. This study was undertaken to comparatively analyze the commitment of knitwear units towards social practices among inward oriented and outward oriented units of Ludhiana. Eighty industrial knitwear units belonging to Knitwear Apparel cluster of Ludhiana (Punjab) were surveyed. Random sampling method (Lottery method) was used for the selection of 80 units from 4 major area blocks in Ludhiana. Interview Questionnaire schedule was used to collect the data regarding their ESR practices. The results revealed that Enterprise Social Responsibility had become increasingly important because of the today's heightened interest in the proper role of business in society. Majority of units believed that profit motive and social responsibility are contradictory to each other. Most of the Outward oriented units were more committed towards social practices and were involved in one or the other social betterment practices in comparison to inward oriented units. Inspite of being involved in community betterment work, most of the units did not publicize their social activities among common people.

Clothing plays a considerable role in an individual's life at all the ages as it provides a medium of self expression, a way to conform, and a way to suggest wealth and prestige and an outlet for creative energy. The apparel retail industry comprises sale of all men's wear, women's wear and children's wear. The Indian retail market is evolving rapidly and the women's wear market has also seen a corresponding expansion due to the increased number of working women, rising disposable incomes, growth of middle class and improved decision making authority of women etc. The women's wear market is the most varied and directional as women will purchase clothing much more than men in any one season. Present day customers are more knowledgeable and extra demanding than in the past. Customers analyze a brand as a significant part of a product, and branding can add value to a product. Brand names and other information on labels are mostly used by consumers as criteria for determining the product quality at the time of purchase as well as in identifying the products that might be profitable for them. The purpose of this study was to investigate the awareness of college girls about different national and international apparel brands in women's wear segment. The paper further analyses different factors affecting the preference for branded clothing. The results of the study will help fashion marketers to have a better perception of the consumer preferences and buying behavior.

Chikankari embroidery is unique in itself and can help textile designer to give different outlook to textile decoration. The diversity of design technique gives the designer freedom to experiment and produce something new for consumers of textile products. The present study, "Designing of sheer curtains with contemporary use of crukankari" was aimed to study the origin and history of chikankari embroidery, and Creating 30 curtain designs by taking inspiration from chikankari embroidery, evaluation of the best 3 designs and then embroidering and construction of the 3 curtains. Observation as well as survey method was used to collect samples of materials and Interview schedules to evaluate the designs. Selected fabric samples were then embroidered with chikankari embroidery. The motif was purposely selected as it covered all the basic stitches of the chikankari embroidery. These embroidered samples were then evaluated by a panel of judges. For the designing, motifs were collected from different sources. After the collection of motifs designs of curtains were developed. Designing of curtains was done with the help of computer software Adobe Photoshop. Designs were evaluated by 30 judges. The designs were given ranks and marks subsequently. Three best designs were chosen for embroidery. Then the 3 selected fabrics were embroidered and stitched. The market survey showed positive results regarding the acceptability and marketability of the articles.
