The production of powder alloy AD33 containing additional 1% Fe is examined. The structurization and properties of the powders and alloys formed under high-pressure water atomization are analyzed. There is a complex dependence of the particle size and nature of oxide films on their surface on the melt temperature, which has to be no more than 900°C. The strength of the powder alloy compacted under different conditions increases by 60-70% as compared with the conventional alloy (without iron) and corresponds to the strength of high-alloy aluminum alloys. © 2010 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc. The method of the parameterized effective potential (PEP) is developed for constructing the potential curves of excited electronic states of the same symmetry. Unlike the traditional methods of the density functional theory, the PEP is constructed as the direct mapping of an external potential. The PEP generates the one-particle orbitals such that the corresponding single-determinant Kohn-Sham function constructed on their basis is orthogonal to the determinant functions of lower-lying states. A comparison of the potential curves constructed for the HeH and H2 molecules by the PEP method with the precision data obtained based on the time-consuming configuration interaction methods shows that the PEP method can provide good accuracy for the geometry of an equilibrium configuration and the vertical excitation energies. © 2011 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd. Results of the investigation of emissive properties of Ba 47W53, Ba59Ni41, and Ba 33Ni67 (at %) alloys obtained by ion-plasma sputtering of composite targets are presented. It has been found that after vaporquenching, the elemental pairs Ba and Ni and Ba and W that are immiscible in the liquid state form alloys with a mosaic structure consisting of alternate microregions of different elements. Such a structure with alloy components W or Ni (having a high electron density) and Ba (with a low work function φ) produces regions of variable electron density and work function on its surface. This makes it possible to obtain high values of the density of the electron-emission current using these alloys. © 2010 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd. Source
