A total of 272 specimens of R.amarus caught in Siahroud River at the southern Caspian Sea from March 2006 to February 2007 were examined for life history attributes.Length-at-age was different between sexes.The von Bertalnffy growth function fit to back-calculated size at age data were:Lt=94.16 [1-e -0.31(t+0.321)] and Lt=92.33[1-e -0.32(t+0.488)] for males and females respectively. WLR was estimated as W=0.0074TL 3.4546 for males and W=0.0133TL 3.0550 for females, positive allometric for both sexes. There was no significant difference from parity in the overall sex ratio. The reproductive season is extended from March to June, with a culmination point in April. Two kinds of eggs were found;small eggs measuring between 0.42 and 0.91mm with a mean value of 0.57±0.08,and large yolk-filled eggs ranged from 0.88 to 2.20mm with a mean value of 1.49 ±0.24 (S.D.).The average absolute and relative fecundities were 329.74 eggs and 187.40 eggs g -1 respectively. Variability of life history patterns of the fish in the basin could be interpreted as species response to basin condition.

We collected Vimba vimba throughout the spawning season (mid April to mid June, 2007) in Gorgan Bay (south-western Iran) and investigated its age, growth, and reproductive traits. The maximum age was 5+ years. Both sexes grew allometrically (positive for males: b=3.140 9 and negative for females: b=2.791 4). The von Bertalanffy growth functions were described by the formulae Lt=32.565(1-e-0.184(t+0.530)) for males and Lt=35.950(1-e-0.179(t+0.529)) for females. The overall sex ratio was balanced, but males were predominant in the smaller size classes and females in the larger size classes. Based on the gonadosomatic index (GSI) values, spawning appears to occur between late April and late May in the bay. The highest mean GSI was 6.44 for males in early May and 20.36 for females in late April. Absolute fecundity varies from the minimum of 5 436 eggs for age 3+ fish to the maximum of 36 141 eggs for age 5+ fish. Fecundity was also positively correlated with fish size (length and weight). Egg diameter ranged from 1.05 to 1.70 mm in the mean of 1.42 mm. It is hypothesized that Capoeta fusca might display specific life-history traits that differ from other species of this genus. To test this hypothesis a total of 354 specimens of C. fusca (listed by ICUN in the category DD=data deficient) were caught in the Qanat of Shadmehr (a well-known active man-made water well system in eastern Iran) on a monthly basis to cover fully the reproductive season from April to October 2007. Based on opercula readings the maximum ages of the population were 5+ years for both sexes. Sizes ranged from 57 to 190mm total length (weight 2.14-84.76g). Length-weight relationship implied that the growth was negatively allometric for males and isometric for females. The von Bertalanffy growth model was estimated as Lt=18.74(1-e-0.33(t+0.473)) and Lt=22.35(1-e-0.32(t+0.333)) for males and females, respectively. Sex ratio was 1:2.42 in favour of females. The GSI indicated that reproduction of the fish in the qanat system occurred between May and August, with the highest average value of 6.12 for males in June and 9.55 for females in July. Oocyte diameters ranged from 0.30 to 2.05mm, with a mean value of 0.92mm. Absolute fecundity ranged between 506 and 22800 eggs, with a mean of 4961 eggs. Fecundity relative to total weight fluctuated from 34 to 583, with a mean value of 133eggs per g. Absolute fecundity and oocyte diameter to fish size (length and weight) were significantly correlated. © 2010 Blackwell Verlag, Berlin.

New phosphonate ester derivatives were obtained by in situ stereo-specific reaction between triphenyl phosphite and dialkyl acetylenedicarboxy- lates in the presence of a series of halogenated anilines. Bamboo is a fast growing non-wood plant with long and thin fibers. Therefore, it has potential as a raw material for pulping and papermaking. In this work, the effects of alkali charge and sulfidity on the kappa number, yield and viscosity were investigated in a bamboo kraft pulping process before and after O 2-delignification. The results indicated that higher alkali charge can get higher residual alkali and lower yield, kappa number and viscosity. Higher sulfidity can conclude higher viscosity and lower yield, residual alkali and kappa number.

Investigation of the ecology of introduced species in new habitats can allow determinations of the degree, direction, and rate of evolutionary change. The introduction of Gambusia holbrooki in the southern Caspian Sea presents such a situation. We evaluated the life history traits of mosquitofish in the Tajan River basin. A total of 744 G. holbrooki specimens were collected between January and December 2008. The maximum observed ages are 0+ years for males and 1+ years for females. Both sexes grew allometrically (negative for males: b=2.442 and positive for females: b=3.232). The overall sex ratio is unbalanced and dominated by females. GSI values suggest that this population of G. holbrooki matures between February-July. The highest mean GSI value is 1.80 for males and 15.97 for females in May. Egg diameter ranges from 1.00 to 3.00 mm with a mean value of 2.098 mm. Absolute fecundity varied from 7 to 57 eggs. Both ova diameter and absolute fecundity were positively correlated to fish size (length and weight). Fecundity relative to total weight fluctuated from 34.44 to 582.64 eggs/g, and to total length from 2.33 to 12.95 eggs/cm. Both were negatively correlated with female size. The purpose of the present study was to develop Doxorubicin (Dox) loaded albumin nanoparticles for regional drug release in solid tumours. Bovine serum albumin nanoparticles were prepared by coacervation method. The nanoparticles were characterized using various techniques: Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) technique and Laser Doppler Electrophoresis (LDE) method. The entrapment of Dox in albumin nanoparticles also found out and in vitro release of drug was studied. The results show that the size of albumin nanoparticles increases from Z average of 67 nm to 98 and 106 nm for two different methods; A and B of drug loading, respectively. The SEM results confirm the spherical shape of nanoparticles which made at 4 C. The results show that the size of nanoparticles decreases by decreasing temperature in their production process. An efficient synthesis of stable phosphonate ylides and phosphonate esters is described via a one-pot reaction between activated acetylenes and triphenylphosphite in the presence of sulfonamides and heterocyclic NH-acids. Single X-ray diffraction analysis and NMR studies were used in characterizing the ylides and phosphonate ester products. Dynamic NMR studies performed on a phosphonate ylide allowed the calculation of the free energy barrier for the inter-conversion between the geometrical isomers (E) and (Z).
