The Mesozoic brachiopod fauna of Misool is shown to consist of ten species, only one of which, the Rhaetian Misolia misolica, has previously been described. For it, a lectotype is selected. We record a further four species of Late Triassic age (?Piarorhynchiinae gen. et sp. indet., ?Cyclothyridinae gen. et sp. indet., Pentactinella pachycostata n.sp., Zugmayerella bogalica n. sp.), two of Jurassic age (Aucklandirhynchia yefbiensis n. sp., ?Terebratulina sp.) and three from Cretaceous strata (Ptilorhynchia pugnaciformis n. sp., Zeilleriinae ?n. gen. et n. sp., Prochlidonophora spinulifera n.sp.). All species, apart from M. misolica are new, although two rhynchonellides and two terebratulides are left in open nomenclature. Biogeographically the fauna is Perigondwanan (or Southern Tethyan), but Pentactinella pachycostata n. sp. is more generally Tethyan, Aucklandirhynchia yefbiensis n. sp. and Prochlidonophora spinulifera n. sp. are Austral in their affinities, and Ptilorhynchia pugnaciformis n. sp. belongs to a circum-Pacific or bipolar genus.

Many researchers have focused their attention on the evolution of the fabric and the shear type of the shear zone. The kinematic vorticity can be estimated by using the polar Mohr method, the finite strain, the rigid grain net, the finite strain and the quartz C-fabric, and the components of simple shear and pure shear during the evolution of the ductile shear zone can also be calculated. Many facts have confirmed that the natural shear zones are always general shear zones which combines different components of simple shear and pure shear and whose values of kinematic vorticity range from 0 to 1, suggesting that the ductile thinning perpendicular to the band of the shear zone occurred. The rate of the ductile thinning during the evolution of the ductile shear zone can be estimated by the methods of the finite strain measurement and kinematic vorticity, the budding of the shear zone and the polar Mohr. Using the Louzidian ductile shear zone and Greece Hellenides Chelmos shear zone, this paper indicates that the ductile thinning really occurred in the ductile shear zone. The ductile thinning is the supplement and perfection of lithosphere thinning; at the same time, the shear types of the ductile shear zone related to the metamorphic core complex constitute an effective method to analyze the mechanism of the metamorphic core complex.

The Yunmeng Shan metamorphic core complex (MCC) is composed of the lower plate, the upper plate and the detachment zone. The detachment zone consists of ductile shear zone (mylonite zone), chloritized microbreccias zone and the brittle fault plane. The ductile shear zone contains mylonitic rocks, protomylonites, and mylonites. Finite strain measurements of feldspar porphyroclasts from those rocks using the Rf/φ method show that the strain intensities increase from mylonitic rocks (Es=0.66-0.72) to protomylonites (Es=0.66-0.83), and to mylonites (E s=0.71-1.2). The strain type is close to flatten strain. Kinematic vorticity estimated by Polar Mohr diagrams suggest that foliations and lineation of mylonite (0.47

The volcanic rocks of the Qingshan Group formed during the destruction of the North China Craton, therefore retaining important information as to the deep processes in this region. Ar/Ar dating and geochemical analyses have been carried out on mafic volcanic rocks of the Qingshan Group collected from Jiaodong Peninsula. In combination with previously published data on the silicic rocks of the Qingshan Group, the newly acquired data show that, (1) the mafic volcanic rocks erupted during 122∼113Ma, predating the silicic volcanism (110 ∼98Ma); (2) the mafic and silicic rocks display distinct elemental and isotopic compositions. Based on these data, it is shown that the mafic rocks may have resulted from melting of metasomatically enriched lithosphere, whereas the silicic magmas represent partial melts of ancient lower crust and late Mesozoic magmas underplated at the crust-mantle boundary (Ling et al., 2009). The volcanic rocks of the Qingshan Group in Jiaodong Peninsula therefore records a shift in magma source from the upper mantle to the lower crust. Such a temporal transition in magmatic composition mirrors the thermal transfer from mantle to crust during the protracted lithospheric thinning processes, but is at odds with the magmatic evolution trends predicted by the crustal delamination model.

Thermal properties are very important physical indices of soils which could be applied to estimate the thermal capacity of environmental control system of underground infrastructures. At present, the existing ideal prediction models of thermal conductivity were not suitable for soil which in fact had very complicated internal fabric. For this purpose, SEM images of soil specimens were taken and digitized with binarizing process by using self-developed software package - ImgAnsys for image analysis, and the treated images were successfully input into ANSYS and analyzed based on the two-dimensional heat transient transferring model. It was found that the simulating results were closely consistent with experimental results, which could illustrate the feasibility of this new experimental method. © (2011) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Heat transfer in surrounding rock of metro tunnel is a large proportion of the entire metro tunnel heat system. To get the accurate heat load of surrounding rock, the heat transfer in metro tunnel is simulated and the temperature distribution is studied through model test. And the inverse calculation of rock thermal conductivity is also given. It is indicated that the temperature decreases with the distance from metro tunnel wall, and follows the exponential law at the same time. And the influencing area of heat fluid in metro tunnel extends with time. The temperature at a distance from metro tunnel wall increases with time. At the closer distance the temperature is higher and the rate of temperature rise decreases with time; and the change rule of farther distance is opposite. Gradually the temperature growth tends to a certain value when heat transfer for more than a certain time. Finally, the precise rock thermal conductivity is also given.

There have been finished about 76 701 km2 with scale 1 : 200,000 and 73 837 km2 with scale 1 : 500,000 regionally geochemical exploration in West Kunlun-Altun mineralization belt during the land and resources survey. It covered totally the whole mineralization belt, and provided systematical geochemical data for the mineral resources appraisal and basic geological research. The prospecting information such as lead-zinc ore in Weibao and antimony ore in Huan-gyangling has been found by anomaly investigation and verification. Evaluation proved that Weibao lead-zinc deposit had a medium size, in a prospective large scale; The large element enrichment regions determined with geochemical methods, such as antimony in east Kunlun and lead in Chalukou of west Kunlun in Xinjiang are significant for the prospects. In subsequent work, 14 antimony deposits (spots) had been found successfully in Huangyangling area, which was the first antimony mineralization concentration region in Xinjiang; The lead-zinc ore deposits such as Duobaoshan, Tianshuihai and Baotashan, and Kazile copper-silver ore deposit, with a batch of mineral information in addition, were found in Chalukou area, which became an important mineral exploration area in Xinjiang. The geochemical exploration with remarkable effect forcefully promoted the work of mineral resources evaluation in west Kunlun-Altun region in Xinjiang.
