The RDX-based aluminized explosives with different contents of 3-nitro-1, 2, 4-triazol-5-one (NTO) were prepared. The sensitivities and detonation velocity of the RDX-based aluminized explosives were tested by the explosion probability method and the electrometric methods. Effect of the NTO content on the mechanical sensitivities and detonation velocity of RDX-based aluminized explosive was studied. The results show that with increasing the NTO content, the mechanical sensitivities of aluminized explosive decrease obviously, the impact sensitivity decreased from 34% to 2%, the friction sensitivity decreased from 30% to 2%; the detonation velocity decreases with increasing the NTO content at the same density. When the mass fraction of NTO is 35%, the detonation velocity decreased to 7764 m/s, which decreased by 169 m/s compared with the RDX-based aluminized explosive without NTO. ©, 2015, China Ordnance Industry Corporation.
