The automatic flight control system of an aircraft is very complicated in nature with lot of logics and operational constraints. The study of the detailed automatic flight control and thrust control involves complicated logics for the control functions with closed loop control systems which can be realized in the software. The work is focused on the redesign of automatic flight control system using robust control methods in the MATLAB/Simulink environment. This paper aims at a complete study, analysis, design, and performance monitoring of new generation autopilot system using linear quadratic regulator (LQR) and sliding mode control (SMC) methods for the control of pitch angle of aircraft. A comparison of the results of simulation of the above gives an optimal performance of the autopilot system. © Springer India 2016.

Image Enhancement for Built-in camera of a Mobile phone is considered as a highly desirable feature because of their ease of usage and convenience. We present in this paper a novel approach to Enhance Built-in camera image of a Mobile phone which is suffering from poor illumination and Blur [1]. This is because of Low Resolution and slight movement of the Mobile phone while capturing the Scene. Camera resolution will continue to improve in Mobile phones, with the need to carry a separate Mobile phone and digital camera possibly disappearing within the next couple of years. But Image-sensor processor algorithms are also very important on camera phones as they can compensate for bad optics. In the Literature there may be number of Effective Image Enhancement algorithms exists, they are unsuitable to deploy in such low memory mobile phones and unable to operate in a limited space of the Mobile phone processor. We present an iterative image de blurring algorithm having a low computational complexity than traditional approaches using two images. One is darker image and another one an unclear or blurred image. De blurring operation is carried out by adjusting Mean and Variance values of the darker image. Mean and variance of the unclear image are useful in constructing the better Image. Of course image de blurring doesn't work on one pixel at a time, but rather on all RGB values simultaneously in a step by step manner. © 2010 IEEE.

This paper presents, analysis of magnetizing inrush current for different voltage angles and harmonic analysis of that inrush current using different FFT windowing techniques. Time domain simulations were used to solve the inrush phenomenon. Square, Welch, Hanning and Parzen windows were used to truncate the obtained inrush current harmonic spectrum for investigation and with parzen windowing the harmonic magnitude is getting reduced due to its reduced side lobes. Inrush current harmonic spectrum obtained by using FFT algorithm in turn discrete fourier transform. Out of different solvers to solve state equation, ode23t solver is used. For an unloaded single phase transformer, inrush current in time domain and harmonic content of inrush current were presented. The results are helpful to estimate harmonics effects in the transformer inrush currents. The results establish a guide line for harmonic elimination due to inrush current and offer an important reference for system design. © 2013 IEEE.

Software Engineering is the domain developed for designing, coding and testing of various software projects of computer and other electronic devices. GSD is the environment for developing projects at geographically isolated areas beyond cultural peripheries in a harmonized vogue comprising synchronous and asynchronous communication. The conventional methods are utilized to estimate effort for co-located projects which are not efficient for GSD-projects. The parametric effort estimation models can estimate effort for both co-located and GSD-projects but it has impact factors on GSD-projects based on their cultural difference and distance. Here we have introduced Scheduling-based model for effort estimation. In this research, three models are calibrated for estimating effort in GSD-environment. The performance can be evaluated based on the accuracy of effort measured from the deviation of actual effort from completed projects and estimated effort before and after calibration. The calibrated estimation shows better accuracy in GSD-projects than the estimation before calibration. © 2016 ACM.

Nowadays most of the organisations are showing keen interest in using Six Sigma approach to improve their operations performance. Motorola coined the concept of Six Sigma and General Electric popularised it. This case study was conducted at bearing manufacturing facility located at Hyderabad. One of the important steps in bearing manufacturing is inner ring and outer ringp rocessing to tight tolerances. Improvement in the rejection rate of bearing rings was taken up as Six Sigma project. One of the basic aims of Six Sigma is to reduce variation by statistical thinking. Various statistical tools and techniques were employed in this study to improve the operations. Rejection rate of bearing rings has been reduced from 2.7% to 0.65% and sigma level of process increased from 4.04 to 4.44. Copyright © 2010 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

Ground-Based Augmentation System (GBAS) augments the performance of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) for civil aviation by providing differential corrections to the position of an aircraft during takeoff and landing. GBAS provides continuous and integral positioning service in all weather operations even in zero visibility conditions to enable precision approach up to Category III. The gradients in the ionosphere jeopardize the accuracy with which GNSS can pin-point the position of an aircraft. These ionospheric gradients can be characterized using data from Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers surrounding the airport. In this work we detect the Ionospheric gradient and compute its velocity using the measured values of Slant Total Electron Content (STEC) from two GPS receivers in the low-latitudes around Vijayawada Airport, Andhra Pradesh. The GPS receivers and the Airport considered here are located within 70Km from each other. The drift velocity of the gradients in ionosphere was calculated to be 189.3 m/s on the 1st of November, 2014, for satellite PRN 32, by finding the covariance between STEC values of the two GPS stations. © 2015 IEEE.

Apart from static power loss, leakage power loss is considerably increasing with scaling. This paper analyses techniques for power reduction to be integrated to the 14 T full adder circuit to achieve low power reliable full adder circuits. However, to perform an arithmetic operation, a device can use up very low power by functioning at very low frequency but it may spend a very long time to finish the operation. Therefore, we measure the power dissipation and evaluate the performance of the system by calculating the Power-Delay Product (PDP), which is the product of average power consumption and delay. Power delay product at various supply voltages for different feature sizes has been considered for reliable results. © 2015 IEEE.

Standalone Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) is inadequate for precise navigation of aircrafts. Ground-based Augmentation System (GBAS) augments the performance of GNSS for civil aviation by providing differential corrections to the position of an aircraft during takeoff and landing. Ionospheric gradients affect the accuracy of GNSS and they can be detected and characterized from GNSS observations. In this paper, the ionospheric temporal and spatial gradients have been detected and the ionospheric drift velocity has been evaluated from the data recorded by GNSS receivers located at Koneru Lakshmaiah University, Guntur (GNT) and Indian Meteorological Department, Machilipatnam (MPM), Andhra Pradesh, India. Both the stations are chosen as they are situated close to each other and to the Vijayawada Airport. The rate of TEC index (ROTI) and numerical differentiation are applied to detect the ionospheric temporal gradients. Time-step and Stationpair methods are used to detect the spatial gradients. Ionospheric gradients at GNT and MPM stations for the month of January 2015 have been discussed. The gradients are found to have occurred mostly between 2000 and 2200 hrs LT. The maximum value of ionospheric gradient velocity is 473.25 ms-1. The S4 value is above 0.8 and the phase scintillation value is above 0.7 radians.

With the fastest growing nature of application migrating to cloud, the problem of choosing the best suitable cloud service for storage is always a challenge. The cloud storage services are majorly paid service and some of them are designed to deal best with specific kinds of data like read only or update only. Some of the services are designed to match small amount of data blocks and some of the services are designed to best match the larger blocks of data. Many of the application uses file storage, rather than RDBMS storage structure on cloud services. The storage hardware, replication and distribution policies are decided and controlled by cloud storage service providers. The storage options are converted and associated with manageable access portals. This access portal demonstrates the user interface view of the storage visualization and usability. In this paper we compare multiple cloud storage services on high textual data loads and implement an algorithm to choose the best cloud storage service based on cost and storage efficiency. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2016.
