Based on the material features of Cr30A and the analysis of current shrinkage, burning-on, crack and other defects on wear and corrosion resistance impeller casting, the original feeding system was optimized through the improvement of the feeding effect of riser and technical process of sand core making. And a better solution for the defects was put forward, such as shrinkage, burning-on and crack on casting. The yield of qualified castings could be further optimized by the computer simulation analysis and the usage of exothermic riser.

Defects in aluminum alloy housing for a special type turbo-charger compressor were analyzed, and possible origination was described. Through checking quality of aluminum melt combined with MAGMA simulation, SEDEX ceramic foam filter instead of original glass fiber improving filling process was described. Through practical production verification, the waste product is decreased greatly, and product cost is effectively reduced.

The effect of automatically-addition flux during the refining process on dross reducing in A356.2 melt was investigated after comparison between the two different refining treatments. The results indicate that hydrogen and non-metallic doss reducing, thoroughly-reaction flux can be achieved by flux adding automatically and quantificationally to the melt, as a result, the mechanical properly of A356.2 was improved and the average tensile strength of tensile samples was increased from 216 MPa to 236 MPa; the average elongation was increased from 12.6% to 15%. © 2016, Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society. The gating system that consists of stopper and nozzle resembles the valve system. Metal melt flow can be well controlled by optimizing the geometry of the nozzle. Applying the cross-like nozzle can obviously improve the quality of the casting and decrease the production cost.
