Membrane filtration is an established technology for treatment of industrial sewage and process chemicals. However, separation of particles and colloids from chemically aggressive substances remains a challenging task for the applied filter materials. Particular for separation tasks in the range of strong acidic and strong alkaline hot solutions a new filter membrane was developed utilizing chemical resistance of PVC. The microporous membrane can be produced in a continuous roll to roll process on common production lines for polymer processing. © 2012 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim.

Due to further development of knitting technology we have been successful in incorporating pile threads of different length between the base fabrics of 3D textiles. Thus, a quasi-endless spacer fabric web material containing 2D as well as 3D areas can be manufactured enabling the realisation of inflatable freeform tubular parts after sealing the fabric surfaces. Against the background of a potential application in the medical field silicones were selected for coating the base fabrics and adequate formulations developed.

Rapidly changingmarket conditions and intense competition force companies to secure their market position through constant customer-focused innovation. To achieve the highest possible overlap between customer requirements and product characteristics, customers' subjective opinions have to be taken into account. For customers it is difficult to accurately describe their exact requirements regarding the products they want.
