A large, old population of the non-native, ornamental nun's hood orchid, Phaius tankervilleae. was discovered in a native forest in central Florida This is the first report of naturalization of this Asian terrestrial orchid in central Florida, and the second report for the state. Although relatively few orchids naturalize, in comparison to other plant groups and the large number cultivated, there are 11 naturalized orchids in Florida.
