Comparative investigations on repairing bone nonunion through percutaneous injection of mixture of nano-hydroxyapatite/collagen/(calcium sulfate hemihydrate) with and without autogenous bone marrow has been presented in this paper. The repair capability in rabbit ulnar bone nonunion models was assessed by radiographic examination, biomechanical measurement and histologic observation. It was revealed that the new bone formation and biomechanical strength after the mixture injection was significantly better than the groups using the material or bone marrow solely, thereby providing a new idea for repairing the bone nonunion in clinical minimally invasive treatment. © 2013 American Scientific Publishers, All rights reserved.
