The aim of the study was to determine the variations of function in components of monooxygenase system (MOS) of rat Guerin’s carcinoma under ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) administration. The activity of Guerin’s carcinoma microsomal NADH-cytochrome b5 reductase, the content and the rate of cytochrome b5 oxidation-reduction, the content and the rate of cytochrome P450 oxidation-reduction have been investigated in rats with tumor under conditions of ω-3 PUFAs administration. ω-3 PUFAs supplemen- tation before and after transplantation of Guerin’s carcinoma resulted in the increase of NADH-cytochrome b5 reductase activity and decrease of cytochrome b5 level in the Guerin’s carcinoma microsomal fraction in the logarithmic phases of carcinogenesis as compared to the tumor-bearing rats. Increased activity of NADH-cytochrome b5 reductase facilitates higher electron flow in redox-chain of MOS. Under decreased cytochrome b5 levels the electrons are transferred to oxygen, which leads to heightened generation of super- oxide (O2 •-) in comparison to control. It was shown, that the decrease of cytochrome P450 level in the Guerin’s carcinoma microsomal fraction in the logarithmic phases of oncogenesis under ω-3 PUFAs administration may be associated with its transition into an inactive form - cytochrome P420. This decrease in cytochrome P450 coincides with increased generation of superoxide by MOS oxygenase chain. © Palladin Institute of Biochemistry, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, 2016.

The results of studying the electrical properties of Hg 3In 2Te 6 crystals irradiated with electrons with the energy E e = 18 MeV and the dose D = 4 × 10 16 cm -2 are reported. It is shown that, irrespective of the charge-carrier concentration in the initial material, the Hg 3In 2Te 6 samples acquire the charge-carrier concentration (1. 6-1. 8) × 10 13 cm -3 after irradiation. The phenomenon of Fermi level pinning in an irradiated material is discussed. The initial charge-carrier concentration, which remains virtually unchanged after irradiation and which ensures the high radiation resistance of Hg 3In 2Te 6 crystals, corresponds to a compensated material, similar to an intrinsic semiconductor at T > 260 K. © 2012 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

In the work, the effect of electrostatic adsorption on the stability of steady-state and appearance of monotonous instability in electrochemical systems in the absence of passivation is theoretically studied for different process modes (galvanostatic, potentiostatic, and constant potential drop). It is shown that electrostatic adsorption may be the cause for appearance of multiple steady states under the galvanostatic mode and mode of constant potential drop. The corresponding diagrams of static bifurcation are constructed in the regions of different system parameters. The system under consideration tends in the potentiostatic mode to a stable steady state. © 2011 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

The mechanism of growth (dissolution) of nanoparticles controlled simultaneously by the matrix diffusion, diffusion along dislocations, and the rate of the passage of atoms through the interphase boundary (by the rate of formation of interatomic bonds) has been studied in alloys of CuNiAl and AlLi metallic systems at the stage of Ostwald ripening. An expression for the nanoparticle-size distribution function has been obtained, which was calculated based on the dependence of the rate of growth on three fluxes, i.e., diffusion flux jV, dislocation flux jd, and kinetic flux ji. A comparison of the experimental histograms with the theoretically calculated curves indicates their good agreement, which can indicate the opportunity of the realization in practice of the proposed mechanism of growth of nanoparticles in alloys of metallic systems. © 2016, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

Processes of preparation of concentrated colloidal solutions of CdTe nanocrystals (NCs) stabilized by thioglycolic acid (TGA) and of subsequent sedimentation precipitation of monodisperse fractions from the initial polydisperse solutions have been studied. The activity of liver microsomal and Guerin's carcinoma NADH-cytochrome b5 reductase, the content and the rate of cytochrome b5 oxidation-reduction have been investigated in tumor-bearing rats exposed to preliminary irradiation. Preliminary irradiation of rats (before transplantation of Guerin's carcinoma) resulted in the decrease of NADH-cytochrome b 5 reductase activity and the content of cytochrome b5 in the Guerin's carcinoma microsomal fraction in the latent and logarithmic phases of oncogenesis compared with the non-irradiated tumor-bearing rats. The effect of irradiation preceding transplantation of the tumor to rats results in the increase of enzymatic activities of liver microsomal NADH-cytochrome b 5 reductase in the latent and logarithmic phases of tumor growth as compared with non-irradiated tumor-bearing rats. At the same time the content of cytochrome b5 decreased, while the rate of its oxidation-reduction rate simultaneously increased in the liver microsomal fraction of tumor-bearing rats. © 2012 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
