We studied the effect of dinitrosyl iron complexes with glutathione ligands on platelet aggregation with HeLa tumor cells. It was shown that dinitrosyl iron complexes not only inhibited cell aggregation, but being added at early stages can also block this process. These findings dictate further studies of dinitrosyl iron complexes as a compound reducing metastasizing and thrombus-formation in tumor patients. © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc.

The article presents the results of endoscopic and laboratory analyses of bile in 90 patients after mini-invasive cholecystectomy. The significant amount of endoscopic diagnosed alterations in the area of major duodenal papilla that amounted to 64.4% of examined patients and also occurrence of micro-cholelithiasis and insoluble precipitates in analyzed bile of83.3% of patients. The derived data testifies necessity of application of pre-operational endoscopic diagnostic of alterations in the area of major duodenal papilla and in post-operative period as well completing it by analysis of native bile preparation.

The efficiencies of three clustering methods for independent components of 19-channel baseline EEG in location of pathological cerebral activity sources were compared. The samples comprised 518 healthy subjects and 87 patients with postconcussion syndrome after traumatic brain injury (TBI). Clustering of independent component topographies, the spatial coordinates of equivalent dipole sources corresponding to independent component topographies, and locations of the maximums of the equivalent source current density calculated by standardized low resolution electromagnetic tomography (sLORETA) were compared. A comparison of the power spectra of independent components showed a significant increase in the EEG power in the Δ, θ, and α bands for sources located in the frontal and temporal lobes of TBI patients compared to healthy subjects. The method of clustering of independent component topographies proved to be the most sensitive of the methods compared. © Pleiades Publishing, Inc., 2010.

We studied the relationship between the GPx-1 gene Pro198Leu polymorphism genotype and activity of free-radical processes. In patients with documented CHD, the content of lipoperoxides and MDA in LDL, activity of glutathione peroxidase in erythrocytes, and genotype of GPx-1 gene Pro198Leu polymorphism were determined. In carriers of the minor allele, activity of glutathione peroxidase in erythrocytes was lower by 17% than in wild allele homozygotes, while the content of lipoperoxides and MDA in LDL was higher by 74 and 27%, respectively. We concluded than free-radical oxidation processes are more pronounced in carriers of the minor allele of GPx-1 gene Pro198Leu polymorphism. © 2010 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc.
