LiNi0.8 Co0.2O2 powd er was prepared by co-precipitation method and solid state reaction method, the precursor prepared by the co-precipitation was LiNi0.8 Co0.2(OH)2. The effects of the synthesis temperature, synthesis time, the high temperature calcination temperature and the calcination time on the electrochemical properties of the cathode material were investigated in detail. The electrochemical properties of the prepared LiNi0.8 Co0.2O2 were characterized by galvanostatic charge-discharge test. The results indicate that the LiNi0.8 Co0.2O2 prepared at 55℃ for 3 h has the best electrochemical performance, its first discharge capacity is 164.5 mAh · g-1 and capacity retention after 50 cycles is 92.6%. The calcination temperature and calcination time cause great difference in the electrochemical properties of LiNi0.8 Co0.2O2, its electrochemical properties improve with the increase of calcination temperature and calcination time. The best electrochemical properties are obtained at the calcination temperature of 800℃ for 20 h, its first discharge capacity is 162 mAh · g-1.
