A new type of porous kaolin/NaY composite (KL-NY) with a large specific surface area and large pore sizes was synthesized through a one-step crystallization process, and rare earth-modified KL-NY-supported Pd-Pt catalysts were studied for benzene combustion. The results indicated that the pore volume and specific surface area of KL-NY after calcination and crystallization were 0.298 cm3/g and 365 m2/g, respectively, exhibiting appropriate pore structure and good thermal stability. Catalysts with rare earth metals greatly enhanced the activity of Pd/KL-NY, and the addition of Pt and Ce into the Pd catalyst improved the catalytic activity as well as the stability. The catalyst with an optimal Ce content and Pt/Pd molar ratio (0.2%Pd-Pt (6:1)/6%Ce/KL-NY) demonstrated the best activity for the complete oxidation of benzene at 230 °C, and the catalyst above maintained the 100% benzene conversion for 960 h. © 2014 American Chemical Society. The treatment of high concentration organic wastewater by microwave Fenton process was studied in this paper. The input volume of Fenton reagent, microwave power, reaction time, initial pH value is investigated to study the impact of the effect of the high concentration organic wastewater treatment. The optimum condition of Microwave-Fenton oxidation is: the pH reaching 3, Fenton reagent composition ratio of n(H2O2):n(Fe2+) being 75:1, the volume ratio of Fenton reagent and waste water being 1:10, the microwave power reaching 640W, accompanied by medium speed magnetic stirring, microwave irradiation time reaching 10min.The removal rate of COD is 83.05%, the removal rate of colority reached 100%. © 2011 IEEE. In this paper, Al pillaring solutions were synthesized by hydrothermal treatment in Teflon coated stainless steel pressure vessels and large BET surface area and large pore of Al pillared clays (Al-PILC) were synthesized by cation-exchange. The catalytic activity of Ce modified Al-PILC supported MnOx for catalytic degradation of chlorobenzene was studied. The characterization results showed that the surface area and pore volume of Al-PILC were 182.3 m2·g-1 and 0.121 cm3·g-1, respectively, which were much higher than the surface area (2.81 m2·g-1) and pore volume (0.00786 cm3·g-1) of Na-mmt. The basal spacing increased from 1.18 nm (Na-mmt) to 1.79 nm (Al-PILC) in the present case. Catalytic activity tests showed that the activity of MnOx catalyst supported on Al-PILC present considerably was higher than that on Na-mmt. Adding Ce greatly modified the oxidation properties and then enhanced the activity of the catalysts. The temperature for complete degradation of low concentration of chlorobenzene of 10%Mn-6%Ce/Al-PILC was 330°C (no Cl2 was observed), exhibiting the highest catalytic activity and stability. Source

The novel carbon based acid has been synthesized via one-step hydrothermal carbonization of furaldehyde and hydroxyethylsulfonic acid. A highly efficient procedure for the synthesis of fructone has been developed using the novel carbon based acid. The results showed that the catalyst possessed high activity for the reaction, giving a yield of over 95%. The advantages of high activity, stability, reusability and low cost for a simple synthesis procedure and wide applicability to various diols and β-keto esters make this novel carbon based acid one of the best choices for the reaction. © 2010 by the authors; licensee MDPI, Basel, Switzerland. Anovel palladium catalyst supported on shell powder has been prepared, and its application to the Heck reaction of aryliodides with olefins has been reported. The results showed that the novel catalyst had extremely high activities for the reactions with the average yield over 90%. Also, this catalyst showed excellent stability in Heck reactions, being reused three times. The catalyst was characterized by X-ray powder diffraction and field-emission scanned electron microscopy images, and the energy dispersive X-ray analyzer. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
