The low speed wind tunnel is more and more popular in civil applications nowadays. The aviation spray is one of the key technologies in agricultural aviation application while wind tunnels can create the right environment for aviation spray simulation tests. The authors collect and analyzes the typical low speed wind tunnel applications in aviation spray drift, droplet size distribution, spray prediction model building and droplet size spectra classification. The authors also put forward the suggestions of preferential domestic wind tunnel tests research not only for general agricultural aviation spray but also for the application of spray prediction model, spray with unmanned aerial vehicle and aviation electrostatic spray. © 2015, Chinese Society of Agricultural Engineering. Aiming at the phenomenon that traditional unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) video transmission disturbance-resistant ability is limited, not multiple monitors use. A wireless UAV video transfer system based on WiFi network was designed. The system hardware including the framework of the system hardware, embedded development platform Tiny210 which based on the CPU of S5P210 and related peripherals. On the software side, the main note is divided into the Linux embedded operating system programming, and host computer video surveillance software design based on the C#. Using Tiny210 for video data through camera, and then the system gets the data format conversion and compression through the Mjpg-Streamer solution, and computer video monitoring was achieved by listening to the corresponding network port through the wireless network close to the web server. The test results show that the video transfer process, when the resolution is 76800, the actual frame rate as the theory frame rate increases, after the theory frame rate reach from 10 to 25 fps, the frame rate unchanged and far less than the theoretical. This process increases the system bandwidth, when reached 40 fps peak after falling. When the resolution is greater than 307200, the actual frame rate does not vary with the theoretical frame rate increases, but remain near constant. Then the camera closes to the operating limit, the system bandwidth keeping from 2 to 3 M every secord, PC screen display is clear and smooth, fully meeting the requirements of video transmission. © 2015, Chinese Society of Agricultural Engineering. The wireless sensor network (WSN) technology has been evolving very quickly in recent years. Sensors are constantly improved in their sensing, processing, storage, and communication capabilities. In a larger scale hilly land agricultural environment monitor WSN, a pure multi-hop approach to route the data all the way along the network, which can extend for hundreds or even thousands of kilometers, can be very costly from an energy dissipation point of view. In order to significantly reduce the energy consumption used in data transmission and extend the network lifetime, we presented a three-tier framework for monitoring agricultural environment using TUFSN(Three-tire Unmanned aerial vehicle Farmland Sensor Network)where data collection and transmission were done using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in South China. In the system, we defined three types of nodes, which included: sensor nodes, relay nodes, UAVs. In the sensor nodes, a classic WSN one-hop or multi-hop routing approach to transmit their data to the nearest RN was used, which acted as a cluster head for its surrounding sensor nodes. Then, an UAV was moved along the pre-defined route or optimizing route that transported the data collected by the RNs to the data center. The TUFSN was divided into three layers, which included: the lower layer for acquisition data based on relay node and sensor node, the middle layer of relay transmission based on sensor node and UAV, and the upper layer for moving aggregation based on UAV and data center. This architecture led to considerable savings in node energy consumption, due to a significant reduction of the transmission ranges by use of a one-hop or the least hop between sensor node and relay nodes and the transmission to communicate the data by use of a one-hop from the relay nodes to the UAV. Furthermore, the strategy provided reduced interference between the relay nodes that can be caused by hidden terminal and collision problems, which would be expected if a pure multi-hop approach was used at the relay node level. We evaluated the performance of the architecture by some simulation. Our simulation of investigating the impacts on some parameters included: flying speed, flying height, flying time, relay node buffer size, UAV buffer size and relay node communication radius. Simulation and test results showed that, 1) when flying at the speed of 1 m/s, UAV should fly much lower to get enough time for communication with relay node; 2) when the communication radius of relay node was higher than 30 m, UAV could have more than 45s for communication; 3) when the buffer size of each relay node increased, UAV needed to fly more slow or fly more lower; 4) when relay node communication radius increased, UAV could fly more high or fly more quickly; and 5) when the transition ratio was 2000 bps, the range of relay node's cache was 3-13kB. We hoped that our simulation provided some guidelines on large scale hilly country farmland data collecting systems. A set of experiments were carried out in the Teaching and Research Farm of South China Agricultural University in April 2015, with the purpose of demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed system. The experiments were limited to eight relay nodes which were separated from each other at a distance of 150 m. There were two or three sensor nodes surround every relay node. It should be highlighted that sensor nodes can only communicate with the closest relay node. The eight rotors of the UAV attached mobile node flied at a speed of 1 m/s and 15 meters altitude in the experiment. In order to find out the distribution regularity of droplet deposition of small unmanned helicopter in rice canopy, spray test with different flight parameters was carried out to study the effect of different operation parameters on the distribution of droplet deposition. The distribution regularity of droplet deposition was obtained by drawing the operation trajectory with BeiDou Navigation Satellite System carried by one-rotor small unmanned helicopter HY-B-10L. The spraying and deposition of the growth regulator (Ponceau 2R solution with the mass fraction of 5‰) were simulated, and the parameters results of droplet deposition in the target areas and non-target areas were analyzed by Image processing software Deposit-Scan. The analysis results showed that: The trends of droplet deposition were similar in the 3 trials, the parameters of flight height and flight speed both had a great influence on the mean droplet deposition amount in the collection point of target areas but had not significant influence on the uniformity of droplet deposition. In the target area, the droplet deposition decreased with the increase of the flight height in the 3 trials. The total droplet deposition was respectively 2.380, 1.905 and 1.156 μL/cm2, and the average droplet deposition of collection point was respectively 0.198, 0.159 and 0.064 μL/cm2. The uniformity of droplets deposition was the best in the flight height of 1.92 m, the best value of uniformity could reach 29%, and the amount of droplets drift was 0.174 μL/cm2, which was the least in the drift area in this case, while the amount of droplets drift in the flight height of 3.15 m was 0.270 μL/cm2, which was the largest value. The larger value of droplet drift was 0.205 μL/cm2 in the flight height of 1.33 m, and it had the worst uniformity in the 3 trials. In addition, the amounts of the droplet deposition in the first and second collection zone were clearly more than the amount of the third collection zone which had a faster flight speed in the target area. In the 3 trials, the average amount of droplet deposition in the first and second collection zone was higher than the amount in the third collection zone by 184.27%, 53.51% and 72.31% respectively. Due to the effect of environmental wind field, the amount of droplets deposition and the drift distance of droplets on the left side of flight route were more than that on the right side of flight route, and with the effect of flight speed, the amount of droplet deposition in the third collection zone on the left side of flight route was more than the droplet deposition in the first and second collection zone on the right side in the drift area. The results have fully revealed the effect of operation parameters on the distribution regularity of droplet deposition and drift, and surmised the impact on the droplet deposition from the perspective of wind field factor.
