Vehicle slip rate is directly dependent on vehicle speed. Most current slip control systems rely on vehicle speed. This means that the estimation of the accurate vehicle speed, cause better control of vehicle stability. In some of slippery roads vehicle speedometer systems will not be able to estimate true vehicle speed, because non-driven wheels are locked while the car ambulates. This paper presents a developed method with an experimental study for estimating vehicle speed using Kalman filter and fuzzy rules. The maximum real error of the system is approximately 0.18 m/s in different conditions of driving.

In engineering studies, normally the behavioral function of a system is, normally replaced by a number of measured values per known inputs - in the form of a table function. Sometimes it is necessary to access a system function in order to be able to study behavior of the system. This is where we normally approximate with a polynomial through a table function which is due to the special features of polynomial expressions. Different methods are used to approximate the behavior of a system with a polynomial expression including Lagrange and Newton interpolating polynomial expressions. Although Lagrange and Newton interpolations are meant for calculation per a given point, neither of them provide interpolating polynomials directly, and the coefficients are produced from combination of multiplication of several expressions. Reconsidering the relations in this study, we offer an algorithm for direct calculation of coefficients of different powers of x in an interpolating polynomial.

New convenient conditions for the synthesis of 1,3-diaryl-2-propene-1-ones are described. 1,3-diaryl-2-propene-1-ones were readily prepared in the presence of heteropolyacids as heterogeneous recyclable catalysts in good yields and short times. © 2014 Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Union of Chemists in Bulgari.

A new efficient one-pot three-component condensation of aromatic aldehydes, aromatic ketones, and aromatic amines in the presence of ZnO nanoparticles as an inexpensive and effective catalyst for the synthesis of β-amino carbonyl compounds by Mannich reaction is described. The reaction was carried out at room temperature under solventfree conditions. Mild reaction temperature, cost-effective catalyst, simple product separation and catalyst recycling were notable achievements in the reaction. Simple experimental conditions and product isolation procedure make this protocol potentially applicable for the development of a clean and environment-friendly strategy for the synthesis of β-amino ketones. The present methodology offers several advantages such as good yields, short reaction times and a recyclable catalyst with a very easy work-up. © 2014 Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Union of Chemists in Bulgari.
