Based on the equation for the dependence of the glass-transition temperature vs. the cooling rate, the analogous dependence has been determined for the fraction of fluctuation volume, which is frozen at the glass-transition temperature. It has been shown that the constant ratio of empirical constants of the given equation is the consequence of the criterion of vitrification in the model of delocalized atoms. The nature of the free volume of amorphous substances has been discussed. © 2014 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

Based on the plasma-like theory of electrolyte solutions, areas of concentration with minimum activity coefficients are found, and the predominance of association phenomena leading to the formation of ionic associates or molecular solvates is explained. Alternative nonempirical models for estimating the activity coefficients of electrolytes are developed that produce values close to or coinciding with the available literature data in the 0 to 16 mol/L range of concentrations. © Pleiades Publishing, Ltd., 2016.

Abstract A single theoretical model for calculating heat conductivity coefficients is presented. The model is based on the mobility of ions and takes into account the characteristics of individual solvated ions and properties of the solvent. The model allows us to obtain heat conductivity coefficients for solutions of individual electrolytes and their mixtures in aqueous and non-aqueous solvents. © 2015 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

Consideration was given to the problem of control of the linear dynamic system where the main goal of control lies in system retention within the phase constraints under the given deterministic perturbation. To solve it, examined was an auxiliary problem of optimal control with a quadratic performance criterion having matrices depending on some selected weight coefficients eventually defining observation of the phase constraints under optimal control. The purpose of research is to obtain high quality coal-water slurry with minimum energy consumption. The paper presents the characteristics of coal-water slurries produced by electric discharge methods. The raw material is coal from different mines (Tugnuisky, Aduun- Chulunsky, etc.). Micrographs of the surface of the coal particles in the slurry and its chemical composition are obtained by scanning electron microscopy. Micrographs showed that the electric discharge treatment resulted in a significant dispersion of the coal particles. Elemental analysis showed a significant reduction of oxides of sulfur and nitrogen. Viscosity of slurries was determined by Brookfield rotational viscometer and corresponds to the standard of GB / T18856.4. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
