The well FN-128 is a production well located at Fula North area of Sudan. After wireline logging, it is forced to stop operating because of the deterioration of social environment, 48 d later, the well is almost abandoned. According to the formation characters and situation of downhole, KCl-Polymer drilling fluid system is applied to solve many difficulties such as caving, shrinking, mud loss and instability of wellbore. Moreover, only 10 d is spent to finish this well. Source

Accidents occurred frequently in Akmomu gas field located in north block of Kashi, while drilling in the piedmont high ad steep structure, which are sticking and casing deformation caused by lost circulation and salt bed creeping in the four offset wells. Poly-glycol under-saturated salt water drilling fluid system is developed and technology of mud loss control under pressure is optimized to settle down the problems of heavy circulation lost and salt bed. Some difficulties, such as caving, were encountered at middle-lower formations with much clay and imbedded coal bed in BARINAS block, which the conventional water base drilling fluid can not be used here. The whole oil drilling fluid system was developed with the main emulsifier SINOLAE. The experimental results show that it has a great inhibition with the hot rolling test giving a 96% recovery rate, and it is still stable contaminated by 10% cuttings or 20% water. The application at well BEJ-13 was successful. Source

In Hovsan oilfield, some down hole problems are encountered, such as highly dispersive formations that make the rheology of drilling fluid hard to control, strongly aggregative clay stone in cuttings that leads to serious bit balling, and high torque in deep section that makes pipe-stuck. The KCl polymer crude oil mixed drilling fluid system is applied, and the each content of KPAM and KCl is 0.8%-1% and 8%-10%, the crude oil is added by 4%-6%. Meanwhile, the difference between the real maximum bentonite content limit and the theoretical value for KCl polymer drilling fluid system at given density is discussed, providing another solution while drilling highly dispersive and mud-making formations. Based on the difficulties in long open-hole of deep wells in Magu block of Liaohe oilfield, a drilling fluid technology is developed and applied successfully. In that block, the polymer organosilicon drilling fluid system and asphalt fluid loss agents are used to cooperate solid-liquid lubrication and hole cleaning technologies to prevent caving sticking and hard tripping.
