Scalable video coding has been highlighted by the High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) which has efficient techniques to compress the video size considerably. However, video transmissions over wireless network have remained a challenge due to its limitations on bandwidth and time varying nature of its parameters. This paper presents a novel Inter Frame-Rate Distortion (IF-RD) optimization method for video compression in HEVC using a technique that produces the relationship between levels of transform coefficient and its samples by linear signal model. A quadratic program is used to optimize this problem, however, RD optimization is done on mode selection scheme. The results are presented in the form of Bit rate, PSNR, complexity of computation. The RD improvisation is indicated by Structural Similarity Index (SSI) with respect to Bit rate. Finally the results show a greater improvisation in PSNR, reduction in Computational complexity and increase in SSI. The encoded video can be transmitted in low bandwidth channels like wireless medium. © 2016 IEEE.

In this manuscript, we propose an evolutionary particle filter algorithm for estimation of the target states. The problem of particle impoverishment with the generic particle filter is solved using Backtracking Search Optimization Algorithm (BSA). The embedding of BSA algorithm into generic particle filter not only reduces Root Mean Square Errors but also computational time. The performance of proposed algorithm is compared with state of the art particle filter solution based on Particle swarm optimization (PSO) and Genetic algorithm (GA). © 2016 IEEE.

We propose a two-step residue transfer technique for pipeline ADCs, that does not suffer from interleaving issues. The proposed technique is shown to be more power-efficient (for the same SNR) than the traditional residue generation technique in pipeline A/Ds, beyond a certain sampling speed. Circuit simulation results at the schematic level are given for a 57 dB SNDR (thermal noise included) 52 mW, 2.23 GS/s pipeline ADC in 65 nm CMOS. Consequently this technique extends the maximum conversion speed of a pipeline A/D converter without interleaving. © 2016 IEEE.

Now a day multimedia applications are growing rapidly and at the same time the volume of video transactions is raising exponentially. This demands an efficient technique to encode the video and to reduce the congestion in the transmission channel. This paper presents an improvisation technique; weighted encoding for High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC). This method optimizes the spatial and temporal redundancy during the motion compensation by the optimal choice of code block. The blocks are chosen on the basis of weights- assigned to it using the firefly algorithm. On encoding it reduces the size of the video with perceptually better quality video or Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR). © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2018.

The conventional transform domain image enhancement technique of alpha rooting has long been used for enhancing high contrast edge information and sharp features in images. However the alpha rooting technique is constrained by problems like overall graying, tonal changes and noisy artifacts. This paper explores a new method by which alpha rooting can be used for enhancing even low contrast images. In this paper we advocate complementing the transform domain technique with appropriate spatial domain techniques to eliminate the limitations of the conventional transform domain technique, thus improving the image enhancement process. We suggest an alpha rooting based Hybrid Technique by combining the gray level transformation algorithms, such as logarithmic transform and power law transform, with alpha rooting algorithm for contrast enhancement. The new technique which ensures control over the contrast of the image to the desired degree is inherently simple in theory and implementation and is well suited for enhancement of a variety of images.

India successfully test-fired Sunday its indigenously developed Advanced Air Defence (AAD) supersonic interceptor missile from an Abdul Kalam Island launch complex in Balasore. The advanced version of low-altitude supersonic ballistic interceptor missile was fired from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) off the Odisha coast against the naval version of Prithvi missile, which was launched off a ship anchored on the Bay of Bengal. The launch was done at about 11:15 a.m., with the interceptor roaring through trajectory and annihilating the hostile missile mid-air. “The ‘kill’ effect of the interceptor was ascertained by analysing data from multiple tracking sources,” revealed ITR director Binay Kumar Das, asserting that the interceptor missile capably destroys any hostile ballistic missile crossing its path. In what is perhaps the last in a series of developmental trials, the interceptor named Ashwin was launched almost three minutes after the target – which pretended to be an enemy missile – was fired from its host warship. Sources in the defense department said the tracking systems picked up the target, tracked it, and commanded the interceptor’s launch. The successful launch marked the 12th time that the missile was test-fired. The missile, first tested back in 2006, failed to hit its target three times. The interceptor – a 25-feet-tall, 1.2-ton (2,400 pounds) single-stage solid fuel rocket – boasts of high-tech on-board computers, navigation system, and electro-mechanical activator, to name a few. The target missile, on the other hand, is fueled by liquid propellants, stands 36 feet, and weighs 5 tons (10,000 pounds). The Indian Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has produced high- and low-altitude anti-ballistic missiles, with the recent tests proving significant as the country seeks to deploy a two-layered Ballistic Missile Defence shield to fight attacks in its cities and vital installations. While the initial stage seeks to attack incoming enemy missiles outside the atmospheric region, the second stage aims to kill hostile missiles of over 2,000 kilometers (1,243 miles) in range inside the atmosphere. This paper focuses on the open source GNURadio Software and studies its use as a research tool coupled with USRP and RTL SDR. USRP, RTL SDR and GNU Radio software suite is introduced and briefly discussed. GNU Radio software suite can act as a simulation tool or a software subsystem to drive a SDR transceiver hardware. This is shown by implementing WBFM receiver using RTL SDR with GNU Radio. It concludes by comparing the cheap yet effective RTL SDR with the costly but accurate USRP hardware. © 2015 IEEE.

In this paper, we describe an efficient Xilinx Spartan3A DSP implementation of 2D DWT (Discrete Wavelet Transforms) using polyphase filterbank architecture with Distributed Arithmetic (DA) to speedup wavelet computation. Results show that the distributed arithmetic formulation results in a considerable performance gain while reducing the consumption of logic resources significantly. This architecture supports any size of Image and any level of decomposition. With minor changes this core can be implemented on any FPGA device. This irreversible Discrete Wavelet Transform uses 9/7 Daubechies coefficients which are used for lossy compression in the JPEG2000 standard. We can plug this core directly in any JPEG ENCODER / TV display controller for any crontel device (BT656 standard, interface of CH7009). © 2011 IEEE.
