In order to study the effect of die casting parameters on the die thermal fatigue, the die casting process of coffee machine cover was simulated by finite element simulate software and orthogonal experiment. According to the simulation results, the optimized processing parameters are pouring temperature 660°C , mould pre-heated temperature 220°C, injection pressure 50 MPa and injection speed 5 m/s. Under these process parameters, the experimental index σ max became low, the trend of mold fatigue was reduced and the quality of casting was improved. The experiment results validate the feasibility of this optimization on reducing the thermal fatigue of the die, and it can be a guidance for production of similar die casting parts.

Temperature field, thermal stress field and thermal fatigue distribution of the mould were visualized by the Procast software simulating forming process of aluminum alloy dome of coffee machine. Two typical processing feature regions in which thermal fatigue easily appeared were selected to simulate. The T-shape gating system and comb-shape gating system were analyzed comparatively. The results show that comb-shape gating system exhibits more desirable. The experimental results verify the feasibility of the optimized design for decreasing thermal fatigue and improving service life of the mould.

The adhesion, hardness, finish and salt spray resistance of five kinds of organic coatings, such as acrylic, epoxy, silicone, ceramic silicone and fluorocarbon, on magnesium alloy die castings were examined comparatively, and availability of the coatings was evaluated in term of economic cost and technical economy. The results reveal that different organic coatings posses different technical economic characteristics. Epoxy resin coating exhibits significant technical economic advantages in corrosion protection, and ceramic silicone and fluorocarbon resin coatings are prominent in hardness and finish, however the corrosion resistance exhibits relatively lower with high cost, showing a lower technical economy, and silicone coating has comprehensive performance and low cost, revealing better technical economy. Although acrylic coating is cheap, poor corrosion resistance restricts its application, deteriorating technical economy.

Die casting process before and after modification for magnesium alloy absorber bracket was simulated by a software. Based on established magnesium alloy multi-physical filed modeling in quasi-solid region (90%< f, <100%), change of solidification field, temperature field and stress field in the quasi-solid region was predicted, focusing on the change principle of quasi-solid region temperature gradient, equivalent stress-yield strength and maximum main stressrtensile strength. Formation of hot tearing and change of multi-physical field in hot-tearing zone were analyzed. The simulated results are well in agreement with experimental ones.
