In order to diagnose the engine noise or fault and evaluate the belt service life, a complete optical experimental apparatus based on sensors array was proposed to measure the amplitude, tension and temperature of the timing belt. The amplitude-revolution, tension-time relationship were studied, and the belt durability in cold and hot states was verified. The measurement results show that when the timing belt is in a hot state of 95℃, the revolution with maximum amplitude of the long side occurs at 2000 r/min, and that of the short side is at 5600 r/min. The durability test results show that it is acceptable to adjust the initial installation tension of timing belt to (200±40) N, which will not cause risk to engine operation. © 2016, Editorial Board of Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology. The engine timing system noise as a research object had been processed by the coherent detection and Hanning window function first. Then by the zoom fast Fourier transformation method combined with the order tracking method marked by the characteristic frequency function, the noise source of engine belt driven timing system was diagnosed accurately and different effects between direct and indirect noise reduction ways were tested and verified completely. The results indicate that the noise is aroused by the crankshaft gear's meshing and belt span's resonance. In an indirect way, high-frequency noise above 1.4 kHz was suppressed by a cover, but noise below 1.4 kHz became worse. In a direct way, decreasing the belt initial tension value to 200 N can be effective in reducing noise. ©, 2015, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. All right reserved. Source

In this research, Fluoridated hydroxyapatite bio-ceramic coatings were produced by laser cladding on the titanium alloy with hydroxyapatite and CaF2 as raw materials. The microstructures and phase constitutions of coatings were characterized by OM, SEM, EDS and XRD, the mechanical properties was investigated by micro-hardness and simulated body fluid immersion test. The results indicated that Fluoridated hydroxyapatite bio-ceramic coatings with anticipated structure and properties were achieved successfully by laser cladding on the titanium alloy. The nonlinear coupled dynamics of a rotating triangular tethered satellite formation near libration points is presented. Based on Hill's approximation, the dynamical formulation for a rotating triangular tethered system near libration points is developed. The formulation comprises a set of strong nonlinear coupled equations. Numerical simulations using the full nonlinear and time-varying motion equations are performed for the station-keeping stages. The dynamic characteristics of the triangular tethered formation are analyzed. The numerical results demonstrate that the rotation rate has a significant impact on the stability of the system, whereas the orbital amplitude has a moderate impact on the stability of the system. Tether length has little effect on the motion of the system's center of mass. It can be served as a basis to solve the problem of rotating triangular tethered systems in any arbitrary plane. © 2015 Elsevier Masson SAS. Source
