Based on researching IEC61850, analysis of the feature for description of digital substation, and linking the development situation of relaying, this paper discusses the future development of the bay level equipment in digital substation and analyzes the hardware, software, net and application belong to the bay level. It proposes design thoughts of relay protection: modularization of hardware, componentization of software, networking of relay function, integrating of equipment function, and expounds the relevant aspects.

The imaging essence of OpenGL and the nature camera were researched and compared, with proving that images rendered in OpenGL was in accordance with the real images generated in camera. The simulation system of monocular, binocular system, radial distortion and structural light were developed, and a verifying method with high confidence was provided. Setting the intrinsic and extrinsic parameters of camera, check board images were generated by virtual camera, then they were calibrated using the calibration toolbox which proved working correctly. The simulation was proved right with several different experiments such as single camera, stereo camera, distortion, reflectance and structure light. The system makes us know more about the fact of imaging without distortion which can be used for the measuring principle learning and research.

In VANET, limited resources, high mobility, intermittent connection and selfish behaviors will not only reduce the successful search rate and retrieve the file rate, but also increase the delay of transmission, resulting in the failure of cooperative sharing of multimedia and affects the vehicle user's experience seriously. So in order to ensure the cooperative sharing of multimedia and improve satisfaction of vehicle users, a multimedia cooperative sharing mechanism based on P2P-BT(PB-MCSM) was proposed. According to characteristics and movement trajectory of kinds of vehicles in VANET, the hierarchical architecture of VANET was established. Then multimedia file query mechanism and retrieval mechanism based on game of PB-MCSM were proposed respectively. Finally, simulation results showed that the successful search rate and retrieve file rate of multimedia files were increased using the P2P-MCSM, and the delay of transmission was reduced. What's more, satisfaction of vehicle users was improved and the cooperative sharing of multimedia in VANET was ensured. ©, 2014, Northeastern University. All right reserved.

In order to solve the problem of fast differential current instantaneous trip protection caused by current transformer saturation, a fast differential current instantaneous trip protection algorithm based on phaselet algorithm is developed, which can rapidly complete fault detection. The linear relationship between phaselet algorithm using sampling data of one-fourth period and one period Fourier algorithm is studied, and then the linear relationship matrices of the two algorithms are derived. The amplitude-frequency characteristics of phaselet algorithm are analyzed and the fast differential current instantaneous trip protection criteria are proposed. The static test and dynamic test validate the feasibility of the proposed algorithm and protection criteria.

The Distribution Companies are required to restrict drawl of power from the grid to comply with the specified frequency requirements so as to overcome any threat to system security in an interconnected system on account of overdrawal from the grid. The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) of India mandates manual as well as automatic demand disconnection from the distribution network under overdrawal conditions and on crossing the defined frequency limits. As the manual control at times become ineffective to decrease drawal by a certain quantum within the time limit and hence the automatic demand disconnection scheme assumes significant importance for Distribution Companies operating in developing countries like India to restrict drawl in its control area. The Automatic Under frequency Load Shed (AUFLS) and load relief by rate of change of frequency relay are the defence mechanism whereas Automatic Demand Management System (ADMS) acts as a tool for ensuring security and reliability of the interconnected system. This paper aims to present details of a unique state-of-the-art Automatic Demand Management System (ADMS) implemented for the State Distribution System by the Transmission Utility of the State of Madhya Pradesh in India, which not only disconnects the interruptible loads but also restores the same automatically on clearing the overdrawal conditions. Under this system real time information is gathered through the transmission Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System and based on logics developed for the scheme, automatic load disconnection & restoration is achieved through the control output of Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) installed for SCADA System of State Transmission network. © 2016 IEEE.

Because of the distinct characteristics of distributed parameters, the relationship between measured impedance and fault distance of ultra high voltage (UHV) transmission lines is much different from that of high voltage (HV) or extra high voltage (EHV) transmission lines. The usage of shunt reactors renders extra complexity. In order to use distance relays on UHV lines, different schemes are proposed. This paper analyzes static characteristics of these schemes by formula derivation, impedance plane diagram and sub-circuit resistance characteristics calculation, which reveals that all proposed schemes satisfy the static performance requirements of relays. Digital simulation validates the correctness of the analysis results. ©2010 State Grid Electric Power Research Institute Press.

The capacitive current compensation method widely used now for current differential protection is the phase compensation method based on ∏ model. Analysis shows that, ∏ model simulates the line with external fault quite precisely and there is bigger error when it is used to simulate the line with internal fault, which should be considered in the parameter setting of fault current differential protection. The error is relatively smaller for the full current differential protection. A 1000 kV 600 km line is built with EMTP to verify the conclusions.

The randomness and instability of wind power have brought huge pressure to system security. The randomness of wind power may lead to reserve shortage under unreasonable unit maintenance scheduling. This paper introduces a unit maintenance scheduling model to minimize expected loss of load based on wind power probability distribution. Unit maintenance scheduling is reasonably optimized by considering the expected loss of load with respect to random outage of generators, so that the expected loss of load can be decreased or even eliminated to guarantee the safe operation of system. A novel efficient 0-1 particle swarm optimization algorithm is described. Simulation results on IEEE RTS-96 system show the feasibility of the proposed model and the efficiency of the proposed particle swarm optimization algorithm.

This paper introduces a design of support scheme of multi-application protocols based on the free and open source uIP stack. With the layered design, it implements a way of support of multi-application protocols based on uIP stack by the interface call between layers. The design has been applied on the communication plat of a new substation secondary protection equipment without embedded operation system on power system, which supplies the system with a reliable support of communication based on TCP/IP stack.
