The dynamic drag of dislocations by point defects in hydrostatically compressed metals is theoretically investigated. Account is taken of the influence of a high pressure on dislocation-dislocation and dislocation-point defect interactions. It is shown that the pressure dependence of the force causing dynamic drag of dislocations is determined by competition between these interactions. © 2013 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd. Source

Relation between characteristics of discharge and parameters of growing film when using ion-plazma methods of spraying has been shown at the example of magnetron spraying of TaB2. Possibility of the modeling application for explanation of composition and properties of the films produced by such methods has been shown. The electrode wire melting coefficient (αm) is determined for the submerged arc surfacing and welding in a longitudinal magnetic field (LMF) under reverse and direct polarities with ferromagnetic and paramagnetic (non-magnetic) wires. The maximum gain in the wire melting coefficient is achieved in the magnetostatic field assisted surfacing and welding. The effect reduces with the LMF frequency increasing to 4-6 Hz and virtually does not change with the further increase to 50 Hz. The electrode wire melting coefficient is shown to increase depending on magnetic properties. It has been established that the penetration depth of the parent metal reduces at the 50 Hz LMF surfacing when the longitudinal induction exceeds 65 mT. The constant and alternating LMFs reduce the speed of in-bath liquid metal flows, which results in the reduced parent metal penetration efficiency at surfacing. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland. Hydrohalogenation of N-[arylsulfonylimino(phenyl)methyl]-2,5(3,5)-dimethyl- 1,4-benzoquinone monoimines follows exclusively the 1,4-addition pattern, whereas N-[arylsulfonylimino(phenyl)methyl]-2,6-dimethyl-1,4-benzoquinone monoimines take up hydrogen halides according to the 6,3-addition scheme. © 2011 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd. The paper describes comparative nanoindentation tests of an HfB2 single crystal and an HfB2.7 nanocrystalline thin film deposited on a steel substrate by magnetron sputtering. The boron superstoichiometry and small grain size are shown to result in a significant increase in hardness and decrease of elastic modulus of the thin HfB2.7 film in comparison to the bulk single crystal. The abnormally high (for inorganic materials) value (87%) of elastic recovery of the impression depth in the thin HfB2.7 film upon the indenter unloading suggests that the film can be considered as a promising wear-resistant coating. © 2011 Allerton Press, Inc.
