A fine fiber can be made having a structure with an axial core and a coating layer. The fiber can have a polymer core and one or two layers surrounding the core. The fine fiber can be made from a polymer material and a resinous aldehyde (e.g., melamine-aldehyde) composition such that the general structure of the fiber has a polymer core surrounded by at least a layer of the resinous aldehyde composition.

Filter media is described that includes a filtration substrate having a first side and a second side, and constructed for filtering a fluid by flow of the fluid therethrough from the first side to the second side or from the second side to the first side. The filtration substrate has a first edge and a second edge, and a first end and a second end, wherein the filtration substrate has a machine direction extending from the first end to the second end, and a cross direction extending from the first side to the second side. The filtration substrate includes a plurality of corrugations located in the cross direction and extending in the machine direction. The plurality of corrugations include a plurality of first crests formed along the first side of the filtration substrate and a plurality of second crests formed along the second side of the filtration substrate. The filtration substrate includes a plurality of bosses located along the plurality of first crests or along the plurality of second crests and extending in a direction away from the other of the plurality of first crests or the plurality of second crests. An air filter cartridge has Z-media and a gasket arrangement with a perimeter gasket member against the downstream flow face and a side gasket member adjacent to at least a partial extension of a first side panel. The side gasket member includes no portion against second, third, and fourth side panels of the air filter cartridge. The air filter cartridge can be used in a dust collector having a tubesheet and a frame arrangement extending from the tubesheet. The perimeter gasket member seals against the frame arrangement and the side gasket member seals against the tubesheet. A method of servicing includes orienting the air filter cartridge against a guide ramp and moving the filter cartridge until the side gasket member is engaged against the tubesheet sealing surface.

The assemblies of the invention can comprise a fine fiber layer having dispersed within the fine fiber layer an active particulate material. Fluid that flows through the assemblies of the invention can have any material dispersed or dissolved in the fluid react with, be absorbed by, or adsorbed onto, the active particulate within the nanofiber layer. The structures of the invention can act simply as reactive, absorptive, or adsorptive layers with no filtration properties, or the structures of the invention can be assembled into filters that can filter particulate from a mobile fluid while simultaneously reacting, absorbing, or adsorbing materials from the mobile fluid.

The technology disclosed herein relates to a filter media having a fiber matrix and a binder distributed throughout the fiber matrix. Conductive particles are impregnated in the binder matrix and a flame retardant distributed throughout the fiber matrix and the binder matrix. The filter media can be incorporated into various types of media pack assemblies for air filtration including coiled media, pleated media, and stacked filter media. A method is also disclosed where conductive particles are distributed in a binder and a fiber matrix is impregnated with the binder. A solution containing at least 5% flame retardant solids is formed and the fiber matrix is saturated in the solution. The saturated, impregnated fiber matrix is dried and cured.

According to the present disclosure, features, components and techniques useable for providing air cleaner arrangements are provided. Many of the features relate to an axial seal arrangement provided on a filter cartridge. A typical filter cartridge, for use with these features, is a filter cartridge having opposite flow ends. Example media arrangements that fit this characterization are described. Seal arrangements provided with an axial housing sealing engagement surface are shown. A seal arrangement is provided. Also, air cleaner assemblies having advantageous features therein are provided. Further, air cleaner housings are described, with selected, preferred features for engagement with filter cartridges.

Thermoplastic bicomponent binder fiber can be combined with other media, fibers and other filtration components to form a thermally bonded filtration media. The filtration media can be used in filter units, such as breather caps. Such filter units can be placed in the stream of a mobile fluid and can remove a particulate and/or fluid mist load from the mobile stream. The unique combination of media fiber, bicomponent binder fiber and other filtration additives and components provide a filtration media having unique properties in filtration applications.
