Nanocrystalline CeO2 and ZnCeO2 materials are prepared using solution-combustion synthesis annealed at temperature of 350 °C. The architectural changes of crystal structure of pure and doped materials are characterized thorough corresponding XRD, SEM and TEM analysis. The surface activities are investigation and optical analyses of CeO2 and ZnCeO2 materials are characterized by atomic force microscopy, and UV–Vis spectroscopy. Blue-shift in PL spectrum indicated the presence of Zn on CeO. The bond confirmation of Ce–O and Zn–O were perceived using IR and Raman spectra. The as-prepared nanostructures were exposed to ethanol for gas-sensing properties. © 2015, Springer Science+Business Media New York. Source

ZnSe thin films were deposited onto ITO and SnO2 substrates by using a modified-electrodeposition method, in order to limit particles’ growth and stabilized the formed nanocrystals. X-ray diffraction laser Raman and photoluminescence analyses confirm the formation of single cubic ZnSe phase with a mean crystallite size attaining about 20 nm for both substrates. The observation of a blue shift in the optical absorption and luminescence data is consistent with the reported reduction in nanocrystals size below ZnSe bulk exciton Bohr diameter of 90 Å. © 2014, Journal of Ovonic Research.
