In the current e-Commerce ecosystem, an ideal supply chain involves the delivery of an accurate product to a precise location, on the right time at a suitable price. To echo this thought further - Speed, Reliability & Cost are earmarked as the important pillars to judge the design of a good supply chain. An e-Commerce marketplace model involves picking up of shipments from sellers & merchants with a daily load ranging as low as one shipment per seller to as high as 25,000 daily orders from these sellers. This paper introduces an alternate supply chain design to enable first mile pick-up of shipments from high load sellers. Going further, the paper dives deep into this asset-less first mile design and henceforth illustrates its impact on Speed, Cost and Reliability of the supply chain of a particular logistic service provider. © IEOM Society International.

This project aims to deliver the highest efficiency EV charging platform in the market. Providing the most efficient solution to maximise electricity utilisation and miles per kW/h consumed. By 2025 it is expected worldwide EV will add an additional 5000GW of demand on the grid; 130GW in the UK. Supply Design is focused on ultra-efficiency DC fast charging technology, using our innovation in 3 phase AC to DC power to offer the customer a clear competitive advantage in size, weight and performance. Electric vehicle (EV) rapid charging is one of the key performance enablers for wide spread adoption of battery electric vehicles (BEV). SD are offering suppliers the opportunity to create the most efficient and smallest EV charger in the market. We have identified opportunities in applications like EV charging, where our invention can save energy, cut CO2 emissions and cut costs. We are on target to produce the most efficient DC EV rapid charger in the world. By the end of this project we should be able to demonstrate DC rapid charging that reduces charging losses by >50%. This in turn decreases energy consumption over the next leading competitor by about 10%. The product size, weight and cost advantage in our low component count design will also add to our appeal. This target of this project is to get SD into a new market and build our reputation within the supply chain with demonstration hardware that will create partnership to take our technology to market.

A modular hydroponics system for growing plants includes a frame or framework of one or more cages, wherein each cage preferably includes, a source of electrical power and water, at least one moveable light source and at least one moveable circulating fan. Plants are arranged on benches in ebb & flow containers in a stadium arrangement. A mechanism moves the light source along the benches and a reflective hood directs light to the plants. The fan circulates air to control the air temperature within the framework. A watering system supplies and collects water to and from the plants. The pH and nutrient levels in the water is monitored and controlled.
