Nowadays, crowd sourcing becomes trend that eventually affects the way of a project is managed. The success stories of crowd sourcing are noticeable, and so are the failures. Crowd sourcing provides access to diverse and abundant talent pools with relatively low cost. A project manager can easily recruit a geographically separated unknown individual or group to perform a task. However, a project manager should understand the benefits and risks of crowd sourcing as the considerations for adopting it. Moreover, the position of recruited individual or group should be clear, whether they are part of virtual project team or just another form of outsourcing. This research reviews the current literatures on crowd sourcing and project management to study the benefits and risks of crowd sourcing, its relation to project management and how the recruited workers should be positioned in the project. The discussions of crowd sourcing and project management are specifically focused on project attributes. © 2006-2015 Asian Research Publishing Network (ARPN).

The main objective of this research is to integrate honeypot and IDS, which can generate and activate snort rule automatically based on the data sending by honeypot server. The new technic is present in this paper, honeypot will collect the data, send the data to IDS, and then IDS will evaluate and generate the rules automatically. Rule that has been made will be active to filter packets sent by the user on the network. We compare rule generated automatically with default rule in snort system for the same pattern. The performance of the proposed technique was evaluated by measuring the effectiveness of IDS server from the attacking. © 2015 IEEE.

The capability of a consumer to purchase products online or via telephone, and then has the purchased items to be delivered safely to her/his address is a value added by sellers. The products may vary and food is one of items that can be ordered via website and delivered to customers' location. In daily life, some fast-food chain restaurants in Indonesia have implemented this type of service to their customers. However, one of the main problems in current delivery service is the routing optimization. The delivery staff may have little knowledge about location, street names and the shortest path to deliver some ordered food, especially in relatively big city. Moreover, the customers usually do not have much information about the status of their order nor the position of the delivery staff. This research develops an online food ordering system and applies heuristic algorithm to solve the so-called Travelling Sales Problem (TSP) in routing optimization. The system also uses the Global Position Systems (GPS) technology in Android-based mobile phone and takes the advantage of Google Maps for coordinate-to-map solution. © 2016 IIJ.

Mobile computing technology brings the opportunity to reach more Internet users and to deliver information directly to their gadgets. This opportunity opens for tourism world in which a mobile application (shortened to be 'app') can be built by developers, distributed it through application market and the users can download and install the application to their gadgets. The application provides contents related to latest tourism information, favorite attraction spots/points of interest, or offers from some service providers. However, not all areas in Indonesia have their own app for promoting local tourism. In this research, a mobile tourism application is designed and built for Samosir Regency, the regency that is in North Sumatera Province of Indonesia. The application has functionalities that are proposed based on taxonomy of tourism mobile application. The application implements Google Map Application Program Interface (API) to provide location-based service for users. Moreover, the data used for the mobile application is fetched from server using web service. Social media is also integrated to the system to provide better experience for the users and for sharing tourism information. © 2015 IEEE.

Bank customers tend to gather much information before making a decision. In doing so, customer visits the official website of several banks and browses related information for the decision making process. Nowadays, more applications are built to extract data from several sources, store them in database and display the data side-by-side so that users can easily do comparison. In this paper, a three-tier application is designed and built to automatically collecting data from official website of Indonesia banks and disseminate them using mobile application. The data layer in the architecture has database and a web-based data aggregation application built. Meanwhile, web services are created to represent the business logic. The web-mining focuses on bank currency exchange rate information. During the research, data was taken from 10 official website of Indonesia banks. © 2015, American Scientific Publishers. The recent advancement in mobile technologies opens opportunities to build application for supporting various disciplines. One of the examples is to build mobile application for sport event. In this research, a mobile application is designed and developed for football competition that combined single elimination and round-robin tournament types. Android is chosen as the platform for developing the mobile application because of the popularity among mobile platforms and the large number of Android-based smartphones users. The football event mobile application has features to display information about the tournament. In addition to that, a web-based application is created to manage the data of the mobile application and is also backed with web services as the middleware to communicate data between the mobile application and the database server. Moreover, the foot- ball mobile application implements Google-based Application Program Interfaces (APIs) to enrich the application features. Stable biomolecules play an important role in the oceans because they can be used to determine the origin and the translocation of the organic material such as sterols which are synthesized by plants. In recent times, a major focus has been on a new biomarker in the high latitudes, a highly branched Isoprenoid (HBI) as the new sea ice proxy 2,6,10,14-tetramethyl-7-(3-methylpent-4-enyl) Pentadecane (IP25, Ice Proxy with 25 carbon atoms). The stability of the proxies such as sterols and HBI is important because only an almost inert character of the molecules ensures its reproducible use as biomarker proxy.In this research, different analytical methods were used to check whether these components actually fulfill the requirements of duration and storage to be stable that possible degradation processes such as microbial degradation and autoxidation. However, duration and storage are proven negligible or can be treated as the secondary essential factors. For this purpose, samples of a sediment core from the continental shelf of the East Siberian Sea were analyzed. Samples from this core were stored (1) deep frozen directly after sampling (-30°C) and (2) at 5°C for an extended time period.The results show that the degradation processes are negligible or least only of secondary importance. The concentrations of the biomarker show good correlations. The ratio between Brassicasterol and IP25 (PIP25-Index) is not affected by the different storages. In addition, all measurements using gas chromatography and mass spectrometry result in nearly the same concentrations of the compounds. © 2016 Penerbit UTM Press. All rights reserved.

Being a teacher is a noble profession that helping the nation to prepare its young generation to be high-skilled, competitive, and tough human resources. However, the number of competent teachers is still low in Indonesia, especially in rural area. Many teachers still do not fit the latest government regulation about the standard of teacher competency. Nonetheless, Indonesian government has encouraged teachers to improve their academic capacity and professionalism by providing money incentives for certified professional teachers. In this research, an e-learning system is developed in order to give solution to the problem and assist the improvement process of teachers’ professionalism. The target users of this application development are mainly teachers in rural area who have limited access to information and resources on how to be a competent educator regarding government policies. This e-learning system harvests the benefits of available information technology tools in term of software and hardware. The research methodology consists of information gathering on the topic of e-learning, teacher and the nature of its competency, analyzing the information to design and develop a model of e-learning application for assisting the process of teachers’ professionalism improvement, implementing the design into a prototype and testing the application. © 2016 Penerbit UTM Press. One of services that DNVGL provides to its customers is to continuously monitor distribution cable circuits for upcoming defects. This monitoring system called Smart Cable Guard (SCG), which monitors over 100 circuits with an average of 5 discharges circuit per minute. Regardless of the amount of circuits and pulse discharges per minute, the system should be able to complete all processes within one hour or less. While in order to offers best services to the clients, DNVGL do analysis to the incoming smart cable data, applied defined knowledge rules, communicate to the customers for certain state of their cable circuit. To help the analyst monitoring the ongoing process and enable them to take a decisive action at the right time, proposed a monitoring dashboard. Dashboard is the solution when the nature of the works is to monitor day-to-day operational such as monitoring strategic information, operational information that changes daily. © 2016 Penerbit UTM Press. Software testing is one of phases in software engineering process that has a very important role to determine the quality of software under test. In software testing, after generating and selecting test cases, and executing them, the outputs need to be checked against a test oracle to determine whether any failures detected or not. Oracle problem is one of the biggest problems in Software testing. It is a condition where a test oracle can not be obtained or too expensive to be used in testing. Metamorphic Testing is a new testing approach designed to alleviate oracle problem. This approach makes use the crucial properties of software under testing, to determine some Metamorphic Relations (MRs). MRs is used to generate follow-up test cases based on original test cases, known as source test cases. The relations are also used to verify whether test passes or fails. This paper presents a use of Metamorphic Testing in testing a program implementing a matrix multiplication. Five Metamorphic Relations are identified and implemented to test five Mutant programs having intentionally bug inserted. All Mutants have been successfully killed by test cases generated by the five Metamorphic Relations. It showed that the generated MRs have been effective enough in conducting Metamorphic Testing for this case study. © 2006-2015 Asian Research Publishing Network (ARPN).
