Daytona State College is a public state college located in Daytona Beach, Florida, United States, and is a member institution of the Florida College System. DSC competes in the National Junior College Athletic Association Mid-Florida Conference in seven sports, including softball, baseball, men's and women's swimming, women's golf, men's basketball, and women's basketball. As of 2011, DSC held eight NJCAA Team National Championship titles.DSC is home to the Southeast Museum of Photography, and has partnered with the Volusia and Flagler County school districts to form the Advanced Technology College, which allows high school juniors and seniors to earn college credits via dual enrollment. DSC offers the Associate of Arts and various Associate of Science degrees, and as of 2014 offered six bachelor's degrees: the Bachelor of Applied Science, Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology, Bachelor of Science in Business Management, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. This presentation analyzes the rhetorical features of the electronic food journal as it quantifies the biological process of eating and represents food data on-screen. I will analyze the interfaces (data entry screens, networked databases of foods) and outputs (charts, graphs, and records) in terms of visual rhetoric related to embodiment literature and public health discourse. I will outline how current journaling formats account for a disruption in mind-body-technology feedback loops and provide suggestions for reimagining the visual rhetoric of the electronic journals to better-account for embodied experiences of health and wellness. The information shared within this paper will help listeners to think through issues of posthumanism, digital subjectivity, and how to best convey health data in visual design. © 2012 IEEE. Source

Computational fluid dynamics has been applied to the design, refinement, and assessment of surgical procedures and medical devices. This tool calculates flow patterns and pressure changes within a virtual model of the cardiovascular system. In the field of paediatric cardiac surgery, computational fluid dynamics is being used to elucidate the optimal approach to staged reconstruction of specific defects and study the haemodynamics of the resulting anatomical configurations after reconstructive or palliative surgery. In this paper, we review the techniques and principal findings of computational fluid dynamics studies as applied to a few representative forms of congenital heart disease. © 2012 Cambridge University Press. This paper presents the design of an inexpensive and user friendly spectrum analyzer. This is accomplished by utilizing a variable switched capacitive filtering system in conjunction with some commonly used integrated circuits. The resulting system exhibits twelve spectral bands with constant gain and constant quality factor through the entire spectrum. Although the design considers only twelve spectral bands, with simple modifications the proposed technique can be expanded to any desired bands. Many publications on multiliteracy work in writing and multiliteracy centers have addressed how to respond to complex multimodal projects, but few have discussed offering basic digital literacy support for students who struggle with technology proficiency. In the same way that limited knowledge of grammar and mechanics creates barriers to academic success, limited knowledge of basic digital literacy skills inhibits success in higher education, and both skillsets are essential to meaningful, empowering communication in the 21st century. Those who struggle most with digital literacy are often found in the "digital divide," members of underserved populations lacking sufficient experience and instruction in digital environments. Two-year colleges in particular serve students in the digital divide, and the writing centers of these institutions face the responsibility of assisting students in communicating successfully in the digital age, which includes tutoring for basic digital literacy skills. To enforce writing and multiliteracy centers as spaces that support 21st-century communication skills, multiliteracy center staff must be willing to offer meaningful support across the spectrum of digital literacy needs. © 2016 Elsevier Inc.
