The Curtiss-Wright Corporation is an American-based, global diversified product manufacturer and service provider for the commercial, industrial, defense and energy markets. Born in 1929 from the consolidation of Curtiss, Wright, and various supplier companies, by the end of World War II it was the largest aircraft manufacturer in the United States, supplying whole aircraft in large numbers to the U.S. Armed Forces. It has since evolved away from final assembly of finished aircraft, becoming a component manufacturer specializing in actuators, aircraft controls, valves, and surface treatment services. It also is a supplier to commercial nuclear power, nuclear navy systems, industrial vehicles and to the oil and gas industries. Wikipedia.

A check valve apparatus includes at least one first test channel including a first pathway extending through a valve body and in communication with a flow path. The pathway is configured to receive a test stick for inserting through the pathway of the test channel to engage a disc such that the disc moves from the open position to the closed position. In further examples, methods for testing a check valve include the step of moving an end of a test stick to engage a downstream face of a disc such that the disc is moved against a bias of a biasing device from the open position to the closed position. The method further includes the step of inspecting an interior portion of the check valve apparatus.

Arrangements for promoting the restriction of fluid flow along a shaft via providing a deformable ring member in an annulus between the shaft and housing. In an initial general condition, the deformable ring member permits free fluid flow in a general direction along the shaft while in a second, constricted condition, the deformable ring closes or blocks a gap or clearance normally conducive to free fluid flow to thereby restrict fluid flow. An actuation medium, which can take any of a very wide variety of forms, preferably promotes constriction of the deformable ring member directly or indirectly.

Neutron absorber members for a control rod guide tube of a spent fuel assembly are provided as a tube split throughout a length thereof. In further examples, an insertion apparatus for inserting a neutron absorber member into a control rod guide tube of a spent fuel assembly includes an insertion tool base and an insertion tool rod. The insertion tool rod is removably secured within and extending from the insertion tool base according to a position of the control rod guide tube into which the neutron absorber is to be inserted. In further examples, a neutron absorber member retainer for a top nozzle of a spent fuel assembly is provided. The retainer includes a plate configured to inhibit a neutron absorber member inserted in a control rod guide tube from removal.

An electrical connector assembly for suppressing a back electromotive force (EMF) spike originating from an electromagnetic device is provided. The electrical connector assembly includes a pin-side electrical connector coupled to the electromagnetic device. In one example, the pin-side electrical connector has a diode opening surrounded by an insulating material. The electrical connector assembly further includes a socket-side electrical connector for mechanically mating with and electrically coupling to the pin-side electrical connector. The socket-side electrical connector includes a suppression diode for suppressing the back EMF spike from the electromagnetic device. The suppression diode is positioned within the diode opening when the socket-side electrical connector is mechanically mated with and electrically coupled to the pin-side electrical connector.
