The invention provides compounds of the formula: wherein L^(1 )and L^(2 )are independently selected from O and S; R^(1 )is C_(3)-C_(6 )straight or branched alkyl, C_(3)-C_(7)cycloalkyl, C_(5)-C_(7)cycloalkenyl, adamantly, phenyl or saturated heterocyclyl, any of which being optionally substituted; R^(2 )is H, methyl or ethyl; R^(5 )is NRxCORy, NRxRy, CH_(2)COCH_(3), CH_(2)CN, or a 5- or 6-membered heteroaryl group which is optionally substituted; X, Y and Z are independently N or CH; Rx is independently H or C_(1)-C_(4)alkyl; Ry is independently H, CrC4alkyl, phenyl or benzyl, either of which is optionally substituted; n is 0-3; salts, hydrates and N-oxides, wherein the optional substituents are further defined in the claims. The compounds have utility in the prophylaxis or treatment of trypanosomal diseases, such as T. cruzi (Chagas disease).

The present invention relates to a power source based on a capillary-based microfluidic redox flow cell made from cellulose and carbon materials which are completely safe and non-toxic, yet inexpensive. The power will be generated by electrochemical reactions facilitated by flowing redox species through porous electrodes. These organic substances will be stored in the capillary-based microfluidic redox flow cell and recover their initial structure upon the addition of any liquid, such as wastewater, seawater, urine, that can even be the same sample to be analyzed. The mass transport within the power source will entirely rely on capillary flow through the different porous materials. Hence, the power source will not require a pump to operate. Once the capillary-based microfluidic redox flow cell is completely wet and the species oxidized/reduced, the power source can be disposed with no environmental impact, as it does not contain any metals or harmful substances.

This invention discloses a method for preparing a thermochemical energy storage material comprising CaO or Ca(OH)_(2). The material also comprises a matrix of hard cementitious material containing silica and calcium silicates that result from the reaction of a binder, such as Na_(2)Si_(3)O_(7), with the external part of the CaO particles originally embedded in the binder. The cementitious material is characterized by the secondary products of a reaction of the calcium silicates with CO_(2) at high temperature followed by a calcination step of all formed carbonates. The resulting material displays superior mechanical and chemical properties after many reversible cycles of hydration with H_(2)O_((v)) and dehydration of Ca(OH)_(2) and can be used for thermochemical energy storage systems.

The invention provides an optoelectronic device comprising a porous material and a material with perovskite crystal structure in contact with the porous material. The porous material is further characterised in that the pores present a well defined average size, in the range of 1-100nm, and characterised in that it is an ordered network which shows a periodicity in one, two or three spatial directions. The perovskite material is infiltrated within the porous material, resulting in a mesostructured and ordered perovskite material. This spatially confined perovskite shows a luminescent emission whose range of wavelengths can be modified changing the pore size of the mesostructure. This invention solves the problem of tuning the emission of perovskite materials without varying their composition. The invention can be used as both light emitting and photovoltaic devices.
