This invention relates to a compound that induces or activates telomerase activity based on the nucleotide sequence of the GSE 24.2 fragment of dyskerin or the protein or peptide sequence encoded by said nucleotide sequence. Another part of the invention relates to vectors that comprise said sequence and cells transformed thereby, and pharmaceutical compositions that contain all these elements. These compositions may be used in the treatment of diseases from the following group: ageing or acceleration of ageing, neurodegenerative diseases and dyskeratosis congenita.

The invention relates to the biotechnology sector involving the area of human health. More specifically, the invention is based on the surprising usefulness of peptides LxVPc1, c3 and c4 as efficient selective inhibitors of the calcineurin signalling pathway (CN)-NFAT and the phosphate activity of CN. Said compounds are useful immunosuppressors and serve as a base for the preparation of therapeutic compositions for the prophylactics and treatment of human diseases associated with T-lymphocyte activation, including, but not limited to, autoimmune diseases, inflammation and allergy or transplant rejections. In addition, said peptides and the associated biological and genetic material can form useful tools for the development of tests that can be used to find compounds that have a selective antagonist activity in relation to CN.

A method and device for purifying a process gas mixture, such as a cryogen gas, in which impurity components of the mixture are removed by de-sublimation via cryo-condensation. The gas mixture is cooled to a temperature well below the condensation temperature of the impurities, by direct exchange of the gas mixture with a cooling source disposed in a first region of the device. The de-sublimated or frozen impurities collect about the cooling region surfaces, and ultimately transferred to a portion of the device defining an impurities storage region. The output-purified gas is transferred from the impurities storage region, is optionally passed through a first micrometer sized filter, through a counter-flow heat exchanger, and ultimately up to an output port at room temperature. A method of purging the collected impurities and regenerating the device is also disclosed.

Device for edge detection and quality enhancement in an image which comprises a grouping of identical and locally interconnected elementary processing cells. Each processing cell is characterised in turn by a comparator which carries out in parallel the comparison of each pair of neighbouring pixels. The threshold voltage which establishes the difference in voltage between pixels considered to be part of an edge is determined by means of a temporary adjustment of a control signal. This adjustment, along with that of the filtering control signal, also temporary in nature, are the only ones necessary for configuring the required processing. No external analogue control signals are required making it easier to programme the hardware by the device which is used and reducing the number of digital/analogue converters of the final system.
