Method and devices for creating a sedentary virtual-reality system are provided. A user interface is provided that allows for the intuitive navigation of the sedentary virtual-reality system based on the position of the users head. The sedentary virtual-reality system can render a desktop computing environment. The user can switch the virtual-reality system into an augmented reality viewing mode or a real-world viewing mode that allow the user to control and manipulate the rendered sedentary environment. The modes can also change to allow the user greater situational awareness and a longer duration of use.

Customer Insight (CI) systems in accordance with various embodiments of the invention gather information sets from multiple remote information sources and can merge the information sets to identify authoritative information describing the named entity. In several embodiments, the information sets and/or the authoritative information are identified using geographic location information associated with the information sets. In many embodiments, the CI systems identify relationship information within the merged information sets and use the relationship information to identify customers of businesses. Once identified, merged and/or authoritative information sets describing customers can be used to build customer lists, typical customer profiles, and best customer profiles. In addition, the CI system can utilize information describing customers to automatically generate advertising targeting data and online advertising campaigns.

A system and method of reducing network congestion whereby significant improvement can be gained by the elimination of catastrophic network congestion failure within a TCP/IP network. Exemplary embodiments are implemented by an improved process for dealing with data loss related to IPv6 fragmentation, in which a ICMPv6 error message is transmitted by a destination node containing a bitmap of the unreceived datagram fragments. The sending node receives the error message and prepares only those unreceived fragments for transmission.

The aim of the I-SEE project is to develop and launch in the market a new eyewear product line and a platform of services focused on improving the health care and wellbeing of eyeglasses wearers, by monitoring the viewing and living experience of the consumers and allowing eyeglasses to interact with smartphones, in-car telematics and professional devices of practitioners and opticians. The I-See products will be equipped with state-of-the-art electronics components and sensors, to collect and transmit information to consumers mobile apps as well as to professional solutions of eyecare specialists. The I-See project will leverage the market access and the vertical integration on the value chain of Luxottica, project coordinator and undisputed leader in the eyewear sector, to promote the I-See product line on the B2C consumer market, as well as the distinctive capabilities of the consortium partners in the electronics (SIGMA), SW (ALTEN), professional service (EY) and scientific (Fondazione Centro San Raffaele) fields, who will strengthen their B2B offer and positioning in the manufacturing industries impacted by the wearable trend. The project ambition is to launch the I-See product line in two year time on the global market, disclosing ultimate medical and social benefits to eyeglass wearers, becoming a model on how the European manufacturing and luxury industry can take advantage of the advent of the contamination of design products with technology components, avoiding to be disintermediated by the global digital American and Asiatic giants in the development of the new value added services and relationship with customers. The project will also have an important impact on the core business of the consortium participants, creating new job and economic opportunities in European Union.

Exemplary embodiments provide a system and method for measuring the temperature of an object, but without requiring a direct measurement of the object to determine the point at which the object has reached a desired temperature. The exemplary embodiments provide a process where the object can be heated to a desired temperature without the requirements of temperature probes into the object. The exemplary embodiments allow the process operator to be informed when the heating process has completed, without regard to the size, shape, weight, density, or amount of materials to be prepared. The energy required to maintain the temperature of a fluid bath is compared to the energy required to maintain the temperature once an object has been placed within the fluid.

A multi-carrier communication system such as an OFDM or DMT system has nodes which are allowed to dynamically change their receive and transmit symbol rates, and the number of carriers within their signals. Changing of the symbol rate is done by changing the clocking frequency of the nodes iFFT and FFT processors, as well as their serializers and deserializers. The nodes have several ways of dynamically changing the number of earners used. The selection of symbol rate and number of earners can be optimized for a given channel based on explicit channel measurements, a priori knowledge of the channel, or past experience. Provision is made for accommodating legacy nodes that may have constraints in symbol rate or the number of carriers they can support. The receiver can determine the correct symbol rate and number of earners through a priori knowledge, a first exchange of packets in a base mode that all nodes can understand, or an indication in the header of the data packet which is transmitted in a base mode of operation that all nodes can understand.
