Electric vehicles become passion nowadays for its pollution free and cost effectiveness. Brushless DC (BLDC) motor drives plays crucial role in Electric Vehicles. It has been progressively replacing conventional DC drives in various applications due to its brushless and low power-loss operation. In MATLAB/ Simulink, the simulation model of the whole system is built, to control the speed and torque of the machine. To enhance the performance of BLDC, two control loops are designed for current and speed. The conventional PI controller can control the speed of BLDC. But it cannot guarantee the stability of the machine during the load varies. In a speed loop Fuzzy gain scheduling PI controller is proposed in this paper. This system is analyzed using MATLAB/ Simulink. Speed and torque performance of the machine is improved by the Fuzzy gain scheduling PI controller compared to conventional PI controller with minimum processing time in the BLDC drive system. © Research India Publications.
