Except the oral clefts and their associated dental development disturbances, no other discrete morphologies are reported in the literature as related to altered fusions of the fetal maxilla and premaxilla. We report here two cases related by the persistence in adult of an aberrant canal at the fusion site of the fetal premaxilla and maxilla. The first case presents an anastomosis of the superior anterior alveolar and greater palatine nerves, encountered during the dissection of a human adult male cadaver; that anastomosis, bilaterally present, projected on the aforementioned fusion site and traversed the hard palate to continue within the maxillary sinus wall. The second case evidenced on CT the unilateral presence of aberrant lateral incisive canals (LIC) at the level of the fetal premaxilla and maxilla fusion site; those canals, external (1.5 mm diameter) and internal (1.07 mm diameter), were corresponding as location to that one traversed by the aberrant anastomosis in the first case. Both LIC opened inferiorly but not superiorly, rather seeming to communicate with the bony canals within the nasal fossa floor at that level. We consider that such aberrant canals and nerves may represent very rare forms of clefting, previously undescribed; the possible anastomoses of the superior anterior alveolar and greater palatine nerves can be altered during a Le Fort I fracture and may be the morphology that can explain aberrant clinical nervous distributions at the level of the upper dentoalveolar arch and hard palate.

Current techniques in tissue engineering may offer a choice regarding the reconstructive strategies of peripheral nerves. Schwann cell cultures are to be considered an appropriate option in the reconstruction of peripheral nerve and spinal cord large defects. Schwann cells availability from peripheral nerve autografts creates a great benefit concerning their usefulness in the nervous autogenic transplantation. Allogeneic Schwann cells transplantation can be effective in the reconstruction without delay of peripheral nerve defects.

The main role of the melanin production belongs to the keratinocyte-Langerhans-melanocyte complex that within a burn injury might be destroyed. A particular aspect has the pediatric patient with burns due to a deficit in pigment synthesis and particularities involving the growth process of facial structures. This article presents four eloquent cases of pediatric patients with sequelae, consequence of facial burns that varied in depth and etiology. The age of patients at time of admission was between four and 18 years, and the interval between production of the primary lesion and admission was variable (0-17 years). Conservative treatments prove to be insufficient, requiring the destroyed structures to be replaced with compatible tissue by surgical intervention. The therapeutic success of skin grafts and dermal substituents acknowledges the main role of plastic surgery. New technologies as well as new cell focused studies support the clinical proven results as well as they enlarge the spectrum of potential available therapeutic methods in order to obtain the best therapeutic results. © 2014, Editura Academiei Romane. Although the healing means 2 types of biological mechanisms that seem to be "pathologic", the swell and the granulations are a normal process in the biology of the human being, representing two systemic functions: the adaptation and the morphogenesis. There is a pathological healing in which the fundamental healing phenomenon is deviated from the normal. There are three variable parameters responsible for the pathological evolution of a scar: the cellular population, the fundamental matrix and the fibers. The healing evolution can be deviated to an intense maturation with an "old", atrophic scar, or to an incomplete maturation and the result is a hypertrophic or a keloid scar. For the hypertrophic scars, the excision and the skin graft lead to good results and the relapses are rare; the keloid relapse is always at the border between the graft and the wound edge, or between the two skin grafts. These are the considerations for which the treatments are mixed, combined (surgical, drugs, physiotherapy) both in our country and abroad, but the results are still frustrating. That is why new, modern methods of treatment are used today: criotherapy, laser, ultrasounds. However, even those treatments are not very successful: tissue expander, external press therapy, corticosteroids injections, other pharmacological agents (retinoic acid, colchicines, antineoplasics). We propose a regenerative, alternative, non-invasive treatment starting from the results we obtained in a research work 4 years ago, when we irradiated the fibroblasts in an electromagnetic high frequency millimeter waves field, and we obtained the fibroblasts apoptosis and the reorganization of the collagen fibers by changing the piezoelectric emission.

Injuries by high voltage electrocution represent rare and very complex accidents. In order to provide support to surgical therapy, to limit the extension of injuries or to support the natural process of tissue repair, we oriented towards the use of two growth factors, insulin and plateletenriched plasma (PRP) administered locally, on the injury site. The therapeutic protocol was applied on three cases of electrocution with promising results in reducing the duration of surgical and pharmacological treatment and of time of hospitalization. The influence of growth factors on healing wounds, the mechanism of action and recent therapeutic applications are also discussed.
