Through researched the method of the identification and location based on machine vision, location information of mature tomatoes has been obtained, which can be used to guide the automated picking operation of ripe tomatoes. The segmentation of visual system is based on the difference between the color characteristics of ripe tomatoes and background. Through the gray-scale method, the treatment of the color image is turned into gray image processing, and the picking tomatoes is accurately identified using mathematical morphology, object extraction, and region filling methods. Furthermore centroid of picking tomatoes is selected as match features, and the picking tomatoes location information is determined through three-dimensional reconstruction method of space point. The experimental results show that the identification of mature fruit can reach 98%, the green ripe fruit up to 89%, positioning error can be controlled within less than 15mm, identification and location effects can satisfactorily meet actual work requirements. © 2011 IEEE.

The aim of this study is to investigate whether galanin (GAL) central receptors are involved in regulation of insulin resistance. To test it, a GAL antagonist, M35 was intracerebroventricularly administrated in trained type 2 diabetic rats. The euglycemic-hyperinsulinemic clamp test was conducted for an index of glucose infusion rates. The epididymal fat pads were processed for determination of glucose uptake and Glucose Transporter 4 (GLUT4) amounts. The Gal mRNA expression levels in hypothalamus were quantitatively assessed too. We found an inhibitory effect of M35 on glucose uptake into adipocytes, Gal mRNA expression levels in hypothalamus, glucose infusion rates in the clamp test and GLUT4 concentration in plasma membranes and total cell membranes of adipocytes. The ratios of GLUT4 contents of the former to the latter in M35 groups were lower. These results suggest a facilitating role for GAL on GLUT4 translocation and insulin sensitivity via its central receptors in rats. © 2012 Elsevier Ireland Ltd.

Structure and sowing principles of rice rope direct seeding machine are introduced. In order to test the machine's working performance, such as compacting effect, sowing depth, influence of sowing device to rice rope, etc., field experiments were conducted. It is concluded that mean slip ratio of compacting wheel 1 is 4.44%, wheel 2 is 5.58%, wheel 3 is 7.81%, and wheel 4 is 6.96%; mean depth of planting is 29.72 mm, and mean variability coefficient of planting depth is 6.39%. Maximum variability coefficient of planting depth is 8.40%. Rice rope's snapping is closely related with the machine's speed and guide thread wheel by sowing device orthogonal experiments. Test results show that the machine has a rational design, safe work and meets to the requirements of planting. This study has laid the foundation for further studying the project. © 2010 Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

The present study examined the effects of crude Polysaccharide from Gynostemma pentaphyllum (PGP) against oxidative stress induced by swimming exercise. Male rats were administered PGP (50, 100, 200 and 400 mg kg -1) by gavage every day. After 30 days, swimming exercise of rat was performed in acrylic plastic pool. The results showed that PGP treatment prolonged exhaustive swimming time and improved liver glycogen reserve which suggested that PGP treatment influenced the performance of exhaustive exercise and improved exercise tolerance. Moreover, PGP treatment can promote increases in the activities of Super Oxide Dismutase (SOD), Catalase (CAT) and Glutathione Peroxidase (GPH-Px) and reduce lipid per-oxidation which suggest that PGP treatment was beneficial in enhancing the antioxidant status and inhibiting oxidative stress induced by exhaustive exercise. © 2011 Medwell Journals.

Alarin, a regulatory peptide, belongs to the galanin family and plays the same regulatory roles as galanin in orexigenic activity and energy metabolism. Our previous studies had found that galanin might facilitate insulin sensitivity via activation of its central receptors. To date, little is known about whether central alarin may exert similar effects on insulin sensitivity. In order to investigate this, alarin and its specific antagonist, alarin 6-25Cys, were administered into the cerebral ventricles of type 2 diabetic rats (T2DR) to evaluate the changes in insulin resistance. The results indicated that central treatment with alarin significantly increased the body weight of animals, the 2-(N-(7-nitrobenz-2-oxa-1,3-diazol-4-yl)amino)-2-deoxyglucose uptake, the plasma adiponectin levels, the glucose infusion rates in hyperinsulinemic-euglycemic clamp tests, the vesicle-associated membrane protein 2 as well as glucose transporter 4 (GLUT4 (SLC2A4)) protein and mRNA levels, and the ratios of GLUT4 contents in plasma membranes to total cell membranes in adipocytes, but reduced blood glucose and plasma retinol-binding protein 4 levels. These effects of alarin may be inhibited by pretreatment with alarin 6-25Cys. The above-mentioned results suggest that the central alarin projective system may facilitate insulin sensitivity and glucose uptake via the increase in GLUT4 content and GLUT4 translocation from intracellular pools to plasma membranes in T2DR. © 2014 Society for Endocrinology.

In this paper, we present a class of non-conventional two-step explicit methods for solving the second-order initial value problems (IVPs) with periodic or oscillatory solutions. The methods have second algebraic order, a large interval of periodicity and high phase-lag order. For multi-dimensional problems, we give the vector form of the methods with the aid of a special vector operation. Some numerical results are reported to illustrate the efficiency of our methods.

Fe3O4 nanoparticles-supported palladium-2, 2-bipyridine complex was synthesized and used as catalyst for Suzuki coupling reactions between different aryl iodides and bromides with phenyl boronic acid under mild conditions. This catalyst can be separated magnetically. However, due to the aggregation of catalyst with the increase in reaction times, the activity dropped dramatically from >99% for the first time use to 45% for the fourth time use and then kept constant subsequently. © 2010 Springer Science+Business Media, LLC.

The mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) variation in Papilio bianor Cramer from its extant range was evaluated to provide a phylogeographic history of its populations from China. Molecular variation in a 655 bp section of COII from 128 individuals (22 populations) was analysed, and 17 haplotypes were detected. Phylogenetic analysis revealed the presence of three major lineages, northeastern, southwestern and central lineages. The sequence divergence suggests that these regions had been isolated since the early Pleistocene. Nested clade, coalescent and genetic structure analyses indicate that allopatric fragmentation might be the cause of the deep divergence within the species. This period of allopatry was followed by contiguous range expansion, presumably involving recolonisation of formerly glaciated or uninhabitable areas from at least three refuges. © 2011 Taylor & Francis.

Two new Fe3O4 microspheres-supported semi-homogeneous catalysts, namely Fe3O4-G4-polyaminoamido (PAMAM) dendrimers-Pd(0) and Fe3O4-polyethylene glycols (PEGs)-Pd(0) were synthesized and characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, infrared spectrum, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and thermal gravimetric analysis, which can catalyze Suzuki coupling reactions. The performance of catalysts was tested for the reactions of aryl halides with phenyl boronic acid and compared with a heterogeneous catalyst Fe3O4-(3-aminopropyl) triethoxysilane (APTS)-Pd(0), in which Fe3O4-G4-PAMAM dendrimers-Pd(0) shows the best activity among the three catalysts. The order of the catalytic activities is Fe3O4-G4-PAMAM dendrimers-Pd(0)>Fe3O4-PEGs-Pd(0)>Fe 3O4-APTS-Pd(0). The catalysts can be quickly and completely recovered by simply applying a magnet of 105 mT and the efficiencies remain unaltered even after four recycles. Seeing that galanin increases animal body weight on the conditions of inhibiting insulin secretion and animals with metabolic disorder of galanin easily suffer from diabetes, we postulate that endogenous galanin is necessary to reduce insulin resistance in adipocytes. To test this hypothesis, we compared four groups of rats to examine whether an increase in galanin secretion stimulated by swimming may reduce insulin resistance. The rats from sedentary and trained drug groups were injected by M35, a galanin antagonist. The rats from trained control and trained drug groups swam after each injection for four weeks. We found that exercise significantly elevated plasma galanin contents and glucose transporter 4 (GLUT4) mRNA levels in adipocytes. Meanwhile, M35 treatment reduced GLUT4 and GLUT4 mRNA levels, and glucose infusing rates in euglycemic-hyperinsulinemic clamp tests. The ratios of GLUT4 concentrations at plasma membranes to total cell membranes in both drug groups were lower compared with each control group, respectively. These observations suggest that endogenous galanin reduces insulin resistance by increasing GLUT4 contents and promoting GLUT4 transportation from intracellular membranes to plasma membranes in adipocytes. Galanin is an important hormone to reduce insulin resistance in rats. © 2011 Elsevier Inc.
