A new type of high aluminum (1.8%Al) Q-P-T high strength steel was designed and studied. Its heat treatment process parameters were designed based on the calculation using both the JMatPro 6.0 software and the CCE (Constrained Carbon Equilibrium) model. Microstructure and mechanical properties of the steel after the Q-P-T treatment were studied by means of SEM, TEM, and tensile test. The results show that the microstructure consists of lath martensite, carbon-enriched residual austenite and dispersed carbides, where the martensite and the dispersed carbides guaranteed the strength, the retained austenite guaranteed the plasticity. The high tensile strength (σb=1260 MPa) and the high total elongation (δ=18%) are obtained by easily controlled Q-P-T process, so that the feasibility of the high aluminium Q-P-T steel is proved. Based on the material balance principle, a functional relation of the total vanadium content of tailings with the total vanadium content of calcination-clinker, calcination conversion rate and leaching rate was established, and the validity of the equation was proved with industrial production data. The effects of interactions between independent variables in the equation on the total vanadium content of tailings were systematically studied; as a result, the original equation was further simplified. The results show that the internal relation of the total vanadium content of tailings to the above-mentioned factors can be accurately reflected through the original equation and the reduced equation, which can provide a basis of judgment for technical control of the total vanadium content of tailings in actual production. On the other hand, the reduced equation is so simple that it is more favorable to practical applications. © Right. Source

The heat treatment process parameters of a Q-P-T steel containing 1. 79% Al instead of Si were designed based on the research of the austenite grain growth feature and the CCE model. Mechanical properties of experimental steel were tested and the steel microstructures were studied by using OM, SEM, TEM and XRD. The results show that the experimental steel has good strength and ductility. When the tensile strength is 1260 MPa, it's total elongation reaches 18%. Meanwhile, it is also found that the changes during partitioning-tempering of the initial lath martensite are decisive factors for the mechanical properties and the way of mechanical property change with partitioning-tempering time is of the same characteristics of the property change of martensite with tempering time.
