A new crosslinked aqueous anionic polyurethane was prepared by toluene diisocyanate (TDI), polycaprolactone (PCL), dimethnololpropionic acid (DMPA) and neutralized by triethylamine (TEA). Then the aqueous polyurethane reacted with hexamethoxymethyl melamine (HMMM) as a cross-linking agent. The product was characterized by FT-IR. And particle size distribution of waterborne polyurethane was researched, the water resistance, mechanical properties, thermal stability and crystallinity of the film were also tested. The FT-IR spectrum indicated that HMMM was crosslinked with polyurethane, and when m(HMMM):m(-COOH)=2.25, tensile strength is up to 30.3 MPa, water absorption rate and ethanol absorption rate decreased to 17.2% and 10.9%, contact of angle increased to 69.6°, Tmax is 301.5°C, crystallinity decreased from 3.77% to 1.10%.
