The long-term addition of N24 to completely autotrophic nitrogen removal over nitrite (CANON) sequencing batch reactors (SBRs) recovered and enhanced their autotrophic nitrogen removal capacity while simultaneously reducing their production of NO3-. The total nitrogen (TN) removal rate and TN removal efficiency of the process increased from 0.202±0.011 to 0.370±0.016kgN/m3/d and from 65.1±3.75% to 77.4±3.8%, respectively, and the molar ratio of NO3- production to NH4+ removal (MRNN) decreased to 0.058. The most effective concentration of N2H4 addition was approximately 3.99mg/L. N2H4 could increase the specific growth rate of anaerobic ammonium-oxidizing bacteria (AnAOB) and inhibit aerobic ammonia oxidation. The electrons released from the oxidation of additional N2H4 using hydrazine dehydrogenase (HDH), which substituted the electrons from NO2- oxidation to NO3-, replenished the consumption of AnAOB anabolism and significantly reduced the consequent NO3- production. © 2013 Elsevier Ltd.

Cationic polyacrylamide (CPAM) were used extensively in water treatment, enhanced oil recovery and sludge dewatering. The review summarized the synthesis methods research progress of cationic flocculants. Four groups of synthesis technologies of cationic copolymers were reviewed, including aqueous solution polymerization, dispersion polymerization, inverse emulsion polymerization and photo initiated polymerization. Furthermore, the paper reviewed that the application of cationic flocculants in sludge dewatering treatment. Based on these reviews, the future research perspectives of synthesis and application on cationic flocculants in sludge dewatering treatment were proposed.

Maker education has been carried out, effectively, in China using Scratch programming tools. Through Maker education, students enhance their STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) knowledge and skills to meet the requirements of the 21st Century. Four types of Scratch tools suitable for students are introduced in this article. Maker-based STEAM education with Scratch tools is summarised from five aspects, viz. the basic idea, teaching objectives, teaching content, teaching strategies and teaching evaluation. This mode of teaching will open up a road to allow more students to participate in innovation and cultivate their STEAM abilities from an early age. © 2016 WIETE.

This paper selects the BP neural network algorithm for data classification, and carries out a detailed derivation of its work principle. For the existing slow network convergence and prone to falling into local minimum and other defects of this algorithm, the paper adopts the method of the combination of using the variable learning rate and added with the momentum factor to improve the traditional BP algorithm. In the specific network training experiment, it is found that the improved algorithm has improved the speed of network convergence to certain extent. And the final data classification results show that, BP neural network has a relatively high success rate when applied for the multidimensional data classification in the Internet of Things.
