The composition, structure, and catalytic activity in low-temperature ozone decomposition were described for cobalt(II) complexes with oxyaldiminopropyl ligands achored to aerosil A-300 differing in the nature and position of the benzene ring substituent. The effect of the geometry of the coordination unit and electronic effects of the benzene ring substituents on the catalytic activity of the cobalt(II) complexes in ozone decomposition were established. © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc.

A slit diffraction is widely used for express diagnostics of optical vortices (OVs). We propose a version of this method that employs relatively wide slits of the sizes comparable with the thickness of bright ring characterizing the OV-beam under test. Under such conditions the diffracted beam contains two bright lobes that propagate along the directions determined by local normals to the incident-beam wavefront in the slit plane. As a result, observations of the lobes’ displacements within the beam cross section provide information on the local wavefront slope and, consequently, on the OV sign and topological charge. The evolution of the lobes’ positions during the diffracted beam propagation visualizes a hidden energy circulation in the incident OV-beam and provides a direct and spectacular illustration of the internal energy flows. © 2015 Institute of Physical Optics. We have obtained complexes of Co(II) with 1,4-piperazine-bis(carbothiosulfene diethylamide) (L) of composition [Co2LX4] (X = Cl, Br, I, NCS). We discuss the characteristic features of the decomposition kinetics for H2O2 in the presence of these complexes and the effect of the acido ligands X on their catalytic activity. We have observed isokinetic relationships between the activation parameters and the reaction rate constants. We show that the values of the parameters α and β in the Edwards equation to a considerable extent are due to the composition of the complexes and the ratio [H2O2]0/[Cat]0. © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc.

We have studied the spectral (IR, PMR, EAS) and thermal properties of new ZnX2 complexes (X = Cl, Br, I) with N,N-dimethyl-N′,N′-dimethylthiocarbamoyl sulfenamide (L). We have established that the {[ZnLX2]}2 compounds obtained are dimers with Zn-X bridging bonds and monodentate coordination of L through the thione sulfur atom. © 2010 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc.

An equation containing a correction for the structural characteristics of the adsorbents and adsorbates was proposed for the determination of the coordinates of the initial point of the hysteresis loop on the adsorption isotherms of the vapor of various types of compounds. The applicability of the equation to four different adsorption systems was tested by comparing the calculated results with data determined from the isotherm. © 2010 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc.

We present an improved version of the Stillinger-David polarization potential of the intermolecular interaction in water. A clear algorithm of construction of a function describing the oxygenhydrogen interaction in water molecules is formulated. A new approach to the modeling of a function screening the charge-dipole interaction on small distances is developed. To describe the longrange asymptotics of the intermolecular potential, the bare Stillinger- David potential is supplemented by a term related to the interaction of dipole moments of oxygen ions. In addition, we introduce a term involving a deformation of the electron shells of oxygen ions to the polarization component. These corrections allow us to successfully reproduce all essential results of quantum mechanical calculations of the interaction energy for water molecules obtained by Clementi. Analyzing the behavior of the dipole moment of a water molecule as a function of the intermolecular distance, we obtain the estimate of irreducible two-particle effects in water. © 2011.

A qualitative and quantitative description is given for the H3 hysteresis loop at low pressures using the generalized Dubinin-Astakhov equation. Irreversibility of the adsorption system was taken into account by introducing an additional governing parameter. A relationship was found between this parameter and the potential barrier for desorption from adsorption traps. The proposed equation satisfactorily describes the hysteresis loop at low pressures for a series of systems. © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc.
