Gas replacement device is one of the key parts for modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) machine. It is meaningful for investigation and optimization design of the gas replacement device by computer to simulate the gas flow field under different gas-exhausting types and gas-charging pressures. A physical model of MAP with trays was established to analyze gas replacement process depending on the gas replacement mechanism. The RNG κ-ε turbulence mode was used to establish the three-dimension turbulent gas flow field during the gas exchange process. With the equivalent area, effect of the gas-exhausting type on gas replacement properties was analyzed, the optimum layout of exhausting mode was determined, and then an appropriate working range of gas-charging pressure was acquired. For three gas-exhausting types, the difference of gas replacement properties was no notable within the vacuum degree range of 0.04-0.1 MPa. Along with the decrease of vacuum degree, the gas-exhausting type of centre hole possessed the best properties. For the exhausting type of centre hole and gas-charging of four holes around the centre hole, the high precision and efficiency of gas replacement could be obtained above 0.5 MPa of the gas-charging pressure. The shock characteristics of a cubic nonlinear packaging system with critical component were investigated under the action of half-sine acceleration pulse. The 2-DOF dynamical model of the system was developed, and the numerical results of the dynamical equations were obtained. Based on the results, the effect of frequency ratio, mass ratio, damping ratio of critical component and cushion, pulse peak acceleration and pulse duration on the maximum response acceleration and displacement of critical component was discussed. It was shown that all these effects are noticeable. The results led to significant insights into design of cushioning packaging. Source

In this paper, pullulan, gelatin and chitosan were used as film-forming materials. Through the orthogonal experiment, oxygen transmission rate and water vapor transmission rate of the composite film of nine ratios were measured, and the best ratio of these three components was obtained. In 100mL 1% acetic acid solution, the best formula of the composite membrane is pullulan 2.5g, gelatin 1.5g and chitosan 1.25g. Finally, the composite coating liquid of the best ratio was compared with the one-component coating liquid, by measuring the decay index, rot rate, weightlessness rate and storage period of strawberries to reveal the effect of the composite coating fluid. The results show that the effect of preservation of composite membrane is better than that of the corresponding one-component membrane and PE. © 2011 IEEE. Source

Corn starch is used as the main ingredient of film, glycerol as plasticizer and sodium alginate as the reinforcer. The mechanical properties of edible films and barrier properties were studied to determine the parameters and the optimum proportion of each component. The results are as follows: cast film forming method, select the water bath temperature is 75°C, stirring speed 400r/min, bath time is 30min, the drying temperature is 50°C, drying time is 8h, select the 12-layer gauze filters, film firming on the glass. If tensile strength and barrier properties were used as the first indicator, the best formula should be: the total concentration of casting solution is 7%, glycerol concentration is 1%, starch and sodium alginate ratio is 1:1. Considering all of the factors, the total concentration of casting solution is 7.5%, glycerol concentration is 1%, starch and sodium alginate ratio is 3:2. © 2011 IEEE. Source

A new concept of dropping damage boundary surface is proposed to evaluate the dropping damage of a critical component for a hyperbolic tangent nonlinear packaging system. A novel dynamic model is established to analyze the effect of three key coordinate parameters, i.e., the non-dimensional dropping shock velocity, the frequency parameter ratio and the defined system parameter, on dropping damage potential.
